I went with the Hella lamps (glass with a removable halogen bulb), a set of Narva +30 halogen bulbs and I put a relay kit in so that the current no longer goes through the headlight stalk. I bought a male headlight connector to plug the stock wiring into the relay harness I made so that its all easily restorable down the road if and when. No splices at all. Nice and bright. All in all I think i spent around $150.
Can you post a couple of pictures of your setup?? Thanks!!! Also, on the HID lamps, I find the 6000K lamps are too blue for my taste. Are the 5000K more of a pure white??
It should be. You should be able to swap out your sealed beam headlights with housings that have removable bulbs. Go to DDM Tuning's website and they have HID units that fit about 20 different headlight types.
