    I had some mild popping, hesitation and maybe a slight loss in power when my 456 was cold. I found a loose hose going into the air intake on one side. I have now refitted in but we have people coming for lunch and I haven’t been able to test it yet. It is item number 9 on the attached diagram.

    Might this loose hose caused these symptoms please?

    My gut instinct is ‘probably not’. I will certainly defer to someone who knows these cars/engines a bit better than me.
    That’s (just) the air intake. I’ve run plenty of cars with the intake off (temporarily) to diagnose things. Also having changed plenty of intakes and trying different set ups and filters etc I’ve never encountered ‘popping’ per-se. However you’ll know pretty quick/soon once you drive the car again.

    I’m guessing if it is a true pop or sputter it may you injectors or spark plugs - something on the gas delivery side.

    It does appear to be fixed. I will let you know if it changes.
