    Apologies if this has been covered before but the search function is a little intermittent today for some reason.

    Anyway, I just came across this video on Youtube.

    It clearly demonstrates that the OBC can be hacked into and the mileage 'corrected'. In this case it has gone forwards but I'm sure it can be clocked backwards to whatever you like. This is seriously alarming for guys wanting to buy used cars.

    Many cars will have been used as rentals - which will obviously affect resale values as they hammered by hundreds of different customers - and then the values are affected so to counter that, these guys can often clock the mileage back to unsuspecting new owners.

    Guys beware out there!

    The miliage if it could be set back, can only go back to the last service which is registered with FNA. If caught it is a federal crime

    Dont understand how Ferrari can spend millions in electronics and engine mapping etc etc etc yet can not make their ECU mileage displays uncrackable.

    Only buy a car with :
    - service records from F dealer
    - service performed every year.

    This can be done to any car not just ferrari. It is easy to crack and reset the milage, hence always look for one with warrenty that way the previous owner wont dare void the warrenty by reseting the mileage counter.

    I cannot believe this company is advertising a service that would be deemed illegal. Went on the website to see if they're selling crack on the side as well… LOL. If this was being done in Ontario this place would have been shut down by now. What are the laws in England?
