I am about to pull the trigger on my first Ferrari, a 2007 430. I have it down to two, one is local, with 8500 miles on it, one is out of town, with 2000 miles. I am tempted to go with the lower mileage car, however the service records show that nothing broke in the first 2k miles. The higher mileage car was has had some repairs and I am concerned that with such a low mileage 07 coming out of warranty soon I may be signing up for some repairs that might have been fixed on the vehicle with higher mileage.

They are within 10k on price. Any feedback? Does it really matter?

    Thanks,

    Rou

Get a PPI on both, then you will know which one to buy.

    If both check out fine...

How much are you going to drive it before you sell it again?

If you're going to keep it for a while or drive it a lot, go with the higher one. Then, save the 10K and put it in the bank as a repair fund. The difference in something going wrong between 2K and 8K is nothing.

After you drive the 2K one 5 or 6 thousand miles, it's no longer "low mileage". The higher mileage one is just higher.

Now, if you're going to put a 1000 miles on it and then resell it, go for the lower mileage. You'll get a higher resale on it. Personally, I think it's a waste to buy a car and not drive it but that's a matter of personal taste.

They all break. When they break is just a matter of time. Worrying about it every time you turn the key is only going to lead to undue frustration and worry.

My one last comment is: I personally can't believe the car had "nothing" go wrong in the first 2K. They all have little bugs. Are you sure about that? They at least have the various campaigns done. They also need their "annual" maintenance whether they are driven or not.

Do both 430 models you are looking at have steel brakes? What are the exterior/interior color combinations and any difference in the options each 430 has like wheels (standard or challenge?) plus daytona seats or standard style?
Color combinations have an effect on the selling price to. I ask all this because two otherwise identical cars should have a bigger price spread than 10k based on the mileage difference. Mileage plays a very big role in the value of the 430...

Buying a Ferrari requires both sides of your brain. I suspect each car will satisfy your left (analytical) side so go with your heart and your gut and you'll probably make the right decision.

Research and more research which equates to more homework and even more homework on the subject.
See plenty of examples....know about us much as a Ferrari salesman and equate each offering on its merits and compare apples with apples.

Do enough of this and you will buy the most pristine example of a pre owned 430 going.
Good luck mate and be patient...took me a year and a bit and I've got me a stallion that hasn't been gelded.

The service records are pretty light on the one with 2k, only shows an annual service in 2008, nothing for 09 and 10. Trying to get some more info on campaigns.

They're both priced too high imo, esp. with winter coming up. Should be able to knock $10k off both, minimum.

Ferrari of Atlanta will stand behind their cars and you can believe what they tell you about it. Talk to Steven. Ebay is Ebay.

I think a relationship with Ferrari Atlanta would be good and it is worth a bit of a premium to me to deal with them since I am local. The other seller is Bentley of Long Island, which I understand is a reputable dealer as well.

The New York car looks to be a better deal obviously. It could be the owner did services on it but didn't provide the records. At worst, the fluids are overdue for change. The mileage is so low, I would not worry about it. Don't worry about the campaigns. Any Ferrari dealer can run the VIN and find out what hasn't been done and get you up to date at no cost. All the campaigns are pretty minor stuff.
