It's a no brainer that everyone here loves cars and probably would at the chance, amass a collection of their automotive passions. But what I've found difficult to do is getting to drive all of them. For whatever reasons: work, kids, obligations, you name it, sometimes you just can't get to driving them as freely.

So to all those who have more than one "weekend car", how frequent do you drive them? What's your average accumulated mileage each year for each car (non-daily)?

I have three Porsches, one Ferrari and a couple of daily drivers- I have the luxury of a large garage at my commercial building- so i tend to drive home a different car every day. in the warmer weather I keep the 355 garaged at home-

Rotating through a bunch of different cars is really enjoyable- I can really enjoy the 911 after driving the 996 for a few days- and vice versa.

I've taken each car on longer trips at various times- not afraid to put mileage on even the older vehicles- but rotating them does keep the yearly accumulation down.

I don't like driving my weekend cars to work for various reasons (I know that's a personal choice). But that regulates me to driving them on the weekends and I tend to find life getting busier and busier with other agendas.

In fact I was strongly reminded by my Ferrari service writer to put on more miles since the last annual service last year. This year he's going to rip my head off when he sees how many miles I've added since.

This year I put on over 10,000 miles driving my non-daily drivers.....I made a real effort to put miles on my Barchetta, 575 & Z06. I enjoyed every mile of the drives and some days I would actually take all 3 cars out for a good drive.

I have very few obligations but am away from home alot. I've put about equal miles on my DD and my Mondial. About 4000 each, and maybe 800 miles on my motorcycle. The bike got a lot more use before the Mondial. I'm trying to balance out but I'm in a situation where some vehicles block in others and the bike is a committment to get out. I took it for a 70 mile ride a couple weeks ago to warm it up for an oil change. Longest ride in a year.

To put miles on the Mondial I try to use it every time I go for groceries and of course I need to go the long way so I get about 40 miles on it when I need eggs.

Not a lot as it's mostly around town stuff. You wind up driving your favorites the most, not surprisingly. You could probably get rid of the rest. Your favorites are the ones that deep down really satisfy your passion and give you a thrill that makes you feel like it's totally worth it. After all when your buzzing down the road that's what it's all about, for me anyway.

1 1/2miles to work. easy to guess. i have to be real careful about parking my car at work. i feel that i am putting my life at risk lately. Four time in the last two months Very young pairs of males have checked me out. the cars now are parked inside at both work and home. i like to take one to work and come home in another. I buy a lot of batteries! I also bought a gun last week. G-d i wish i never have to use the thing. the mix is five Ferrari, 26 Maserati one Aston Martin and +++ enough already.

Two "weekend" cars (actually one is a race car, but can be street-driven) - did 3K miles total in 2010. In my current lifestyle and priorities, having more cars is a waste. With an increased car hobby budget, I would likely buy cars with higher collectibility ratings but stay with the same number.

At some point in my life (maybe 5 yrs ago) I had a Dino, an M3, a Porsche 911 and a Triumph TR6 as my fun weekend ensemble.

I didn't drive any of them enough to make it worth it. total miles on all 4 was probably less than 5K. Total. 2K being on the Dino, and most of the rest on the 911.

I sold them all, except the Dino (at the time), but then found myself putting the same 2K on the Dino as I had before.

Now I own the 360 and put about 2K on it. So, I guess my weekend mileage for fun cars, either single or multiple is about 2-3K per year, doesn't seem to matter how many I own at once.

My DD gets about 12K a year, but I drive my wife's car a lot on weekends, she likes riding in it better than in ANY of my cars.

I was already having issues finding time for all the toys and hobbies, and then I added the F Car. Being that it's winter now, the motorcycle doesn't get as much use as in the summer (for obvious reasons), and the F car is taking that time slot quite well. So far, I've averaged about 250 - 300 miles a week.

I need more time. (I think I'm going to have to retire if I get any more toys).

I have a couple DDs and two fun cars - the Ferrari and my old Trans Am. I tend to drive the Ferrari a bit more than the TA, but try to drive the Ferrari at least once a week - even through the winter, weather allowing.

I would say that I have put almost 4k miles in a year and a half of owning the Ferrari. Probably 1-1.5k on the Trans Am. Actually, maybe about the same on my Expedition. My wifes Escape gets the most mileage just because thats what we take on longer trips.

I seem to put around 3-4,000 miles/year on the 612, and 600-1,000 miles on the other cars.

You are not that unusual. It is also the reason I laugh every time I read a thread about odometers being turned back because there is no way so many cars get driven so little.

It is very simple. People who buy these cars lead busy lives and don't get much play time. It has always been that way.

Yep. Bought the 365 in 1997 with ~51k, up to 68k. 308 had ~21k in 2005, now it has just under 30k. Maybe put 900 miles on the Bentley this year.

Spicy's step-dad just turned over 2k miles on his 2 year old Cayman.

The best way I've found to get mileage on the toys (if that's what you want to do) is to go for a "drive" rather than for an "event" or errand, from time to time.

What I mean is that cruising around for showing off purposes (which is fun, I admit) and to go only a couple miles over to the coffee shop, country club, restaurant, etc. then hanging out socializing and looking at your car for an hour may consume your entire Sunday allotment of free time ---- but, you will only have put 5 miles on the car.

Instead, in that same amount of time, say an hour and a half, you can put 100 miles on the car by hopping on the nearest highway, picking a direction, and driving 70 mph for 45 minutes, then, turn around and drive back home ---- presto! you've just put 100 miles on the car in your same, precious hour and a half :)

.....those type of miles are much better for the car, too --- as opposed to short, stop & go, hops where you don't get everything up to good temps and really circulate the car's juices.

I took it out one day with the intention of crossing a couple states, called a buddy, we changed direction but by the end of the day I'd put 400 miles on it. Been trying to do that again, but I always seem to start those days out by sleeping in then putting baileys in my coffee and end up with no miles. Hmmm.

I've found a ~30 mile loop that I can do in under an hour that mixes freeways and back roads and ensures that all of the moisture is blown out of the car when I am done. Important when you line up 4 cars on a Sunday morning before your wife asks to go to out.

    Thanks.

I used to be a workaholic years ago and did not even drive my 308GTS or my 400i or other cars I owned. It took quite a few years to say to myself that it is okay to make time to drive and enjoy the cars that I have. I also take others for drives with me and let them try out the cars. I sometimes go on drives by myself.

If I could get paid to drive a sports car all day, that would be my job.......:)

Today I drove the 308 from the east coast of FL to west about 150 miles. Then took the 348 out for a 50 mile drive, and then Drove the Mondial back to the east coast, another 150 mile drive. I have been doing this for 1 1/2 years around 2 to 3 times a month, plus driving them daily.

    Well...

The truth is that I just can't drive them all enough. Worst part is storing them though as some can stay at home, others cant. The ones not at home get driven less of course. I try to rotate them but it does not always work. Then once a few of them that I want to drive are at home I find myself not going through the motions to lower a storage lift to access another.

I make promises to drive them, and usually keep to the promises by registering for an event that the particular car would fit in to. Then the car gets used... For that weekend.

I guess the start of the season they all get used the most, just for the annual oil change at the least. That ordeal can take all week as they all get miles with the fresh fluids.

The real kicker is feeling good about where your going in the car for me. If I feel that I dont want to park it out, or leave it unattended then some of the cars will just sit again. The toy cars will get the most use as I am not afraid of a little wear. There is a lot to be said about an inexpensive cool & fun car that you can take anywhere.

And as far as car use throughout the year the wife may come into play too. Does she mind the wind in her hair tonight? Does she want to bring friends? Do they need A/C or heat? Do they care if the car is quiet or loud? You gotta please the ladies.

So what kind of mileage? A few thousand on the Ferrari for the season? Sounds right. Sometimes that bothers me, sometimes it doesn't.

Funny, that's exactly what I have started to do. I don't go to Santana Row any more to stand around and look at exotics. I take the same two hours and drive in the Santa Cruz mountains, hwy 9, skyline, quick stop at Alice's, Pescadero, sone more backsides and back home.

My nine year old enjoys this a ton. And so does the 348.

i end up putting somewhere between 5-8k km per year across all the non-utility cars. i make a point of driving something fun on the long distance trips, and i sign myself up for stuff designed for one car or the other. the ferraris all have different purposes anyway, AND lest we forget, many of these cars spend a lot of time at the shop: the 456 is my dd, but doesnt get much exercise doing that since my commute is so short; the cs is mostly for track days/events; the bbi did its duty on the targa florio and has been at the shop more/less since due to the theft; the 512tr is the car of choice if i am taking a longer trip with my wife along since it combines all the good aspects with few of the downsides.

this year i have gone to imola, mugello, and monac in the cs; south of france wedding in the 512tr; no where with the bbi; and all around switzerland in the 456.

next year, i plan to take the cs to monaco and a couple track days, and if i am lucky enough to be accepted then on the mm tribute; the 512tr on another weekend trip, and the bbi needs to go somewhere - just havent figured it out. the 456 is on the sales block.

despite the risks, i do not even bother taking the modern or utility cars on longer trips - the boredom would put me to sleep.

In the past I've had many days where I've put more miles on my bike in a single day than I put on last year. My excuse, I'm only home 8 days a month and our vacation in 2010 was to Europe.

Happy new year everyone. May all our driving be safe without unwelcome surprise.
