She will give Danica a run for her money, in more ways than one, I think. ;)

Ah no she woln't, not in the racing department that is. Milka wasn't anything special in 400hp DP cars. The step up to Indy cars with ~700hp on both road and oval circuits is huge.

This is nothing but her taking advantage of her position, or rather her marriage, so she can play Indy car driver. If she looked like a bull with a wig, no one would give a ****.

Don't let Tifosiron hear you say that. He thinks Danica is the best thing since sliced bread, ignoring the fact that she isn't even the best female driver in her own series, let alone in all motorsports...

I thought they always drank milka in victory lane at the Indy 500, not the champagne typical for F1 events.

Seriously, to be fair to both of these young ladies, Danica will have an AGR ride, so unless Milka has a Penske or Ganassi ride, this will not be a fair comparison. Theoretically, Danica has the advantage.

    Me and my sweetheart...

Kind of an interesting story. The person who I purchased my 308 from also had a 355C. His 355C was originally owned by Milka and when she wrecked it at Road America, she dropped it off at FoW. FoW called my friend and said "Hey...we have this 355C you may be interested in..." Every year at the Daytona 24-Hr, I always find Milka and we get a chance to talk for a few minutes...

I was surprised to see this announced, and it seems Robin Miller from the Speed Channel agrees with me. Here's a snip from his article on the subject:
Read the whole critique here. http://www.speedtv.com/commentary/36275/
She hadn't impressed me in my rather casual observation.

After reading some of the other posts, like the one above from don_xvi, I don't think this lady will do much of anything except potentially take out some other cars. I will stick with Danica.

"Milka Duno is brilliant, fearless, beautiful and Venezuelan. And she's demonstrated a woman can rule in a male-dominated sport."

I know it is just PR-bullcrap, but I really get annoyed at this nonsense that she (or Danica, for that matter) is "ruling" the sport. Danica hasn't won horsesh1t since karting, Katherine Legge is a danger to herself and others on the track, and it sounds like all this girl hasn't done much better than either of those two. Brilliant? Fearless? WTF?

It is a shame that there are far too many underfunded quality drivers begging for a ride, yet sponsorship money is flowing to women with little more to offer than T&A. Politically correct companies seem to be lining up to spnsor drivers based on their gender and the media is eating it up hook, line and sinker. This to me is a far greater mockery of the sport than anything Alonso or JPM have been accused of by some on these boards.

Drivers as inexperienced as Milka have died on the track (anyone remember Paul Dana?). I hope this history doesn't repeat itself.

Senna is probably spot on. 20 mph faster in a racecar is huge; 80-100mph is gigantic. I hope she pulls it off. Racing has always been an unfair sport in that "there is no substitute for cubic money." It might just be a case of everything was better in the good old days but it does seem that there are a lot of people who are there only because of sponsorship or family bucks. The flip side is I remember the criticism of Niki Lauda for purchasing his first F 1 season. I seem to remember him winnining a couple of races...

Another less-dire risk that they are running is setting back the clock on female participation in the sport. You can argue Danica Patrick's place in the IRL. She came with some experience, though with limited success, and is pleasant-looking. Basically, she warranted a shot, and for a team seeking out a female driver she was justifiable. With Duno, she is a vastly-underqualified driver with a big budget and looks. And the only thing she'll accomplish is to provide fuel for the "told you so" crowd that wants to keep auto racing as a male-only sport.

Danger to herself and others, probably. Watch Kansas this weekend. Gazillionaires buying rides good for the sport, no but it has went on forever and what can you do about it.

Anyway the pic above got cut off and I found an udder one. She's out front of the other active women driving today.

She was at Skippy school a few years ago while I was there. She had her own personal instructor and track times, and the boys kept chuckling about how she loved to change out in the open, just to put on a show.

    Killing herself would be bad.

Killing someone else is completely unforgivable.

Other sports beckon for amateurs. DPs, that's about right.

Just my two cents....... feel free to discard it.

DP to the IRL. She hasn't strayed too far.
