    All,
Here is something a little different- a Mille Cento Viaggio- a 100 mile cruise. Some of us with antique wooden boats- Chris Craft, Gar Wood, Hacker, Dodge, Riva, et al- and Ferrari's like to get all the machines up at once. Imagine, exotic boats and exotic cars out around the delta at the same time. Its all good. Having more time than sense, I had an idea.

Some of us noted the coincidence that many of our antique & classic wooden boats were manufacture during the time of the Mille Miliga- 1927-1957. I thought an homoage to the great Italian Mille Miliga is in order. But a thousand miles in an antique wooden runabout would be a bit much. I dropped the Miliga to Cento an we have Mille Cento Viaggio- the 100 mile cruise, April 26,2008, launching from Rio Vista.

Conours boats, Ferrari's what a site that would be. The MVC boats will head south down the Old San Joaquin River past Discovery Bay to Union Point Marina on Hwy4. Ferrari's could shoot around two lane back roads and meet the MCV boat gang at UPM around 10ish. MVC has to stop for fuel and food. When boats an people are full, MCV heads north.

Boaters will pass Terminous/Tower Park [Hwy 12] enroute to Wimpy's at Walnut Grove for more fuel and food around 2ish. Back road Ferrari mania and river boat fever could be interesting dock talk during the break. When we're full of it, MCV heads up the Sacramento River [Hwy 160] then back south west on Sutter Slough to Rio Vista.

While all this is going on, The Cub Club- [5] J-3 Piper Cubs and a 1939 Fleet biplane will loiter overhead shooting pictures for a DVD of the event. Ferrari's racing the banks of rivers and sloughs would really improve the DVD. Just a thought. Join us if you can Saturday, April 26 in Rio Vista.

Then Sunday around 10ish well fire up the boats heading North 15 miles to the 1917 Grand Island Mansion for brunch. Ferrari's in the yard, Concours boats at the dock- what a sight. For more information and updates about Mille Cento Viaggio, the 100 mile cruise, e-mail me at [email protected]

This sounds like a lot of fun. We have to figure out some way that we would get to go for a ride in the boats and then we could take them for rides in the cars. Please post more info on this and keep me updated

    Boat rides- no problem!

Jeff Peterson, FCA Northern CA, is coordinating with FCA leadership hoping to spread the word of Mille Cento Viaggio, April 26th.

The plan is for the Tahoe Concours boats to run south to Union Point Marina east of Discover Bay on HWY4 from about 8:00am-10:00am. We should leave UPM around noon heading north past Tower Park [HWY 12] on to Wimpy's near Walnut Grove arriving approximately 2:00PM. We'll leave Walnut Grove around 3:30PM heading back to Rio Vista past Grand Island Mansion arriving home [RV] around 6:00PM

There should be lots of opportunities for rides. And if the wind cooperates five [5] J-3 Cubs will loiter with a 1939 Fleet biplane taking pictures. KGO & KPIX jet copters have been requested for over heads of J-3's loiting over Ferraris next to Tahoe Concours boats. Next- Speed Week?!

    All,
The 100 mile Delta wood boat cruise with Ferrari friends on Saturday, April 26th is re schedule. The flood gates at Walnut Grove won't open until May making the top half of the 100 mile cruise impossible. The event will be re schedule latter in the season. Stay tuned. More to follow. Thanks for looking.
