I'm sorry, I only received the web-based version. For those who have applied for media accreditation: did anyone yet get an answer? They said they would put up the events between 'the end of March and the beginning of April' (sic) but nothing on their site so far.
All time keeping equipment is allowed in the "real" Mille Miglia recreation. You can see pre war Alfas covered with digital displays, and others (like myself) just use old chronometers. The smartest, like my friend Pueche, take no time-keeping equipment at all. His philosophy is that rallyes are for enjoyment and driving, not for measuring fractions of seconds. I wouldn't worry too much about time keeping. Bring any chronometer if you wish, or just look at your watch. The MM is not really a competitive event, because most participants don't reall care about timings. Most of them, like myself, are just desperate to finish! Incidentally, an organiser to whom I complained about some of the very sophisticated time and distance measuring equipment that some old cars were carrying, on aesthetic grounds, told me that any limitation of the equipment allowed would undoubtedly degenerate into sophisticated and elaborate cheating (all that stuff can be hidden and managed with your foot and beeps). To avoid cheating and all the ugliness that accompanies it, they allow it all. Other than that, comfortable clothes and plenty of accumulated sleep time are advisable. Don't even think of it if you are jet-lagged. Cheers, Julio
That too. Jim is absolutely right. It will happen to you, and the young women usually look very much like those in the picture. Cute little things... I advise participants to learn how to pronounce Ferrari in Italian; those two r's are there for a reason. Perhaps you should also make sure you know a few Italian expressions that could be useful, such as: Per favore, potete auitarmi a spingere la machina? Dove posso trovare benzina/un mecanico? Siamo persi! Le luci non funzionano! Non vedo niente! Tu sei ancora piu bella che la machina! Dami un bacio, mi portera fortuna! L'Italia e il paese piu bello del mondo! Ho fame e sete! Dov'e Roma/Firenze/Bologna/Brescia? Chi mi puo aiutare a cambiare una ruota? Mi fai un pompino se ti lascio guidare? I am sure somebody can come up with a few more,,, Cheers, Julio
Great stuff, learnt a lot already. We'll aim to get into the spirit of the event and Jim G.'s tips will help tremendously! Onno
...but maibe some girl could accept! Besides I'm really sad. after 20 years 2010 Mille Miglia won't pass for my city Ferrara, I'll be in Maranello to view the red arrow and the Ferrari tribute Alan
Now if we combine Julio's last suggested quesation with Onno's on-board video we get something truly unique. Disregard the above, you guys have fun out there!
Last check round the car this week. Last time I was on the road with it about a month ago did about 130 km, car behaved perfectly. It was it´s first time out since a 1300 km rally I did in october in Tuscany with 12 8 c´s Alfa´s, with no doubt the best rally in my life. Another drive this weekend and if everything is fine ready to go!!! Again we won´t know the cars on the race probably till 10 days before the event. Quite excited already. Forza MM!!!!
Well, all men are created equal but some are more equal than others. Some pics taken at Technico Classica last week (not by me, alas). Onno Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hello MM lovers List of participants now on the MM web site. In my opinion, great selection, probably the best in the last three years. Two weeks!!!

I hope many of you will visit the 2010 MM. I have a question, many of you may know that I'm very interested in the 340 America and always love to get photo's of these cars. But this this year I'm particular lookig for 'action' photo's from 0082A, The daughter of the co-driver from 0082A (nr 188) wants to make a small book for her dad and therefore she needs photo's. Please let me know if you have some.. Regards Bert
Can somebody explain to me on what basis the sport vs GT class is made? The 225S (0190ED) and 340 (0150A) are both even numbered sports cars with both some race history, but they both are in the GT class. If you want to win the MM, the coefficient is important as with the sports class this coefficient is higher and your points are magnified with the coefficient. Of course it could be the case that the entrants just ticked the wrong class. My car is almost ready, will post some info soon.....(but Marianne is not joining me as her back is still sore....those pianists just dont sit right.....) ciao Oscar
Oscar My wife is not coming this year either. But there´s always a huuuuugggggeeeeeee group of friends wanting to come!!!! See you in Brescia!
Bert, In 2006 heb ik deze foto van 0082A genomen tijdens de MM (ergens onderweg). Als het goed is ga ik er dit jaat weer naar toe en zal wat extra fotos proberen te maken. Joop Image Unavailable, Please Login
hi Is it just me but less than 10 days before the start of the rally, no mail, no info, no hotel check arrival info?... nada! I wish they would send an acceptance pack and tell us where and what to go/do. For my 8,500 $ i think a 10$ package would have gone a long way. I Hope the organization along the rally is of better quality otherwise i fear for the worse. elad
Hi Elad, Don't worry, you wont receive anything by post but only a A4 sheet with some financial things. But you can find a lot of info on their website and the first day during scrutineering you will receive all the relevant info. And also a Chopard watch...(pretty nice and it sells for around 5k so the invest is almost back Dont forget your original FIA papers and so! The organisation is pretty good, but please don't expect pretty hotels or delicious food. But expect 1600 km's of beautiful roads and 1 million enthusiast people. Ciao Oscar
Hi Elad I agree with Oscar, don´t expect anything in advance, I´ve done it six times both with the old and new organizing team, and nothing in advance, but don´t worry, it all goes smooth. All you have to do is get yourself and your car to the Fira de Brescia, easy to find coming on the motorway from Milan, on wednesday afternoon better than thursday. Once you are there you will get all the info, road book, numbers, etc, and will go trough the scruttening. DON T FORGET YOUR CAR TITTLE, FIVA PASSPORT AND INSURANCE RECEIPT, AS WELL AS YOUR LICENCE. On thursday cars are taken to the city center, and spend the day around enjoying all the cars and the people, it´s great. From there at around 5.30-6 to the MM museum, dinner and off we go!! You will have a great time. What´s your number? Jaime
