I have heard nothing regarding the Ferrari Tribute. Presumably the new organisers are against such an event? Or have I missed something?

I read somewhere that they are against the F-tribute and want to keep the MM original. Back to the roots.
I hope they can stop the commercial Volkswagen display on one of the vintage squares in Brescia.
The square used to be filled with pre 1957 MM cars, but the last couple of years it has been taken over by VW, who put up a commercial display with Golf convertible, Audi's and a Veyron.
I like the Veyron, but I'd rather see, smell and hear the real cars, while I am drinking my Espresso.

    Hi Warren,

After three beautiful MM's I am going for something else this year. I am curious how the new organisation will cope with the organisation, MAC was pretty good but I especially did not like the massive wannabees during the tour. Got worse every year...

Will visit it though....so Pierre we have lunch again!

    Ciao

Hello Oscar, yeh, I guess 3 times is quite a few. Did you do all those with MAC. I will more than likely visit at a minimum, so must arrange to meet up.

Would a car fail scrutineering if it has a modern transmission?

    Hi Warren,
Yes all three Mac. I certainly will visit the event, so see you either in Brescia or the Marche.

And Maserich, about the modern gearbox, you need a Fiva passport and I doubt if they know the difference, unless it is a paddle shift. Scruteneers at the MM are specialists but mainly engine/chassis numbers, tyres, lights and papers. They don't get their shorts dirty by kneeing down.

    Ciao

If your car was accepted, you should have already received the confirmation email.

Best of luck to all who entered.

I have a handful of clients who got in and all are new first timers and in for quite a treat!

    Ciao,

    Hi Warren,

No, my next chance that won't have a conflict with other commitments will be next year. Possibly hoping to do my four five favorite events split possibly between two cars, the Tour Auto, Monaco, Mille Miglia, Le Mans Classic and the Targa Florio depending on how good a job MAC events runs the Targa this year.

The last time I did the Targa was when Patrick Peter ran it as a real race... Simply fantastic fun and likely no one else could have organized such a great Italian event other than a Frenchman like Patrick who's organization and determination to get things right is more Germanic in nature and probably the reason it was so much fun.

    Ciao,

    Bill

    Bill:
Tell them to be careful and not to overdo it...specially if it is the first time..they will want to repeat it and not to scare themselves and others...and this is not the PB tour of elegance, this is long driving, specially the Saturday from Rome to Brescia starting at 6 am and arriving at midnight..and worse in my opinion is first day because a lot of participants never drove their car in the night, with limited car lights , lot of traffic, narrow unknown roads and everyone is speeding to get some sleep before midnight. After 3 days you are better trained.

Will be my fifth one, in 4 th different car, and yes traffic as noted by Oscar gets worse and worse and not because of the organization but because everything that goes around, from support cars to sponsors to spectators to mopeds to lunatics ,,,

So hope everyone enjoys and take it for what it is, a fantastic event through a great country of classic car lovers, where a lot of things impossible in other countries are tolerated when driving, but where dangerous behavior has to be banned at all costs if we want to keep the event alive.

    Yup, so true!
And besides the night vision I can recommend that participants prepare their cars for cooling issues. Uphill San Marino was the worst, traffic jam of an hour and without a huge fan and a long life battery you are out (well, the head gasket will blow nicely)....

But hey, it is not for sissies, so enjoy for the full!

    ciao

I skipped San Marino last year, as the total chaos was starting after the road goes back on one single lane. Not only heat and head gasket, clutch for sure dies starting uphill for 4 kilometers by increment of 30 meters at best...in fact you have to arrive before or after the crowd in San Marino or skip it. Sad, been there 3 times with good timing,,,but last year was impossible.
