You are very kind. Thank you so much. Sincerely, Jim
Reminder: The organizers require you have an FIA issued International Driver's License. They allowed us to run last year without it, but told us they would be required this year. These can be issued at any AAA office or ordered from AAA by mail Looking forward to seeing everyone in Brescia Chuck
In the latest issue of Sports Car Market there is an article about the 1952 Ferrari 225 that just recently sold at auction. The author states that the car will have difficulty qualifying for the Mille because it does not have its original engine. Is that correct?? Seems like cars from that period, especially ex race cars having their original engines should not be a requirement.
It is not a requirement but your Fiva pass will probably have something like a4 or b2 and thus the organisation knows there is something wrong with the car. Ciao Oscar
As Oscar says, it is not a requirement. For each car the rules can be bent or broken as they see fit. Anything that raises a question can move a car up or down the ladder. Remember that this event is over 6 times overscribed, so the organisers can pick and choose. There are sometimes amazing cars, all original, that do not make the cut, and sometimes it is very hard to understand why. Fact is, if you do not have an matching engine number, it gives the committee a reason to exclude you if they need a reason. This is Italy. Rules are there to explain why black is white, or, if the light changes, it might be purple, or black after all. A Ferrari 225 is a rare car and stands a better chance of getting in than a 300SL with non-original engine. But there are no guarantees, unless your car has been in the Brescia Automobile Club for 25 years.... Onno
Morning.......Thought you might have something to say about that.....For the uneducated like myself Fake is easier to pronounce...lol
I was the successful highest bidder for Lot 147, the 225 S Coupé Vignale #0168 ED at RM Amelia Island (9 March 2013). Since April 12, 2013, the car is now in Zurich, Switzerland. Just yesterday correct and authentic 225 S engine was purchased which will be installed soon. The car will then be road registered for Switzerland and subsequently prepared for vintage racing at Goodwood and the Monaco historics. Marcel Massini
Fantastic news, Marcel! Congratulations on an amazing car and I look forward to seeing her in action! Onno
Congrats Marcel. Be careful when you are driving on Swiss roads though, I might come in the other direction! P
I do not remember the exact place but as far as I remember it was the last special stage on the way to Siena on Saturday around noon. This part of the road was used for the first time in 2012, last year there were more seperated special stages than in previous years that were not accessible but by foot... I have no idea whether they use this part again this year as there is no detailed route available at the moment (as far as I can see).
See you there nevertheless Peter! And it was good to see you at Tour Auto, your pictures as always are fantastic. And the Stratos, even though not a Ferrari, is a lot of fun! Cheers P
Just over a week to go and still no list for entrants into the Tribute. Does seem a little late for posting.
Don't want to spoil the fun, but they added another 50 cars or so, with about 425 cars this will not help the flow and lodging. Last year we had to sleep in Bologna while the stop was Ferrara, so about a 1,5 hours drive....and thus about 3 hours in the hotel..... Still very sweet memories though. This year we will see the other side, in Carpegna, Ciao Oscar
yes...among 76 cars 1x 330 GT2+2 1x 365 GTS4 Spider ! 1x 246 GT Dino 1x 308 GTS 1x 512BB 1x 328 2x Testarossa 1x 348 3x F40 and in the historical MM, among 422 participating cars, only 24 Ferraris
Marcel, I have "telepathy" with 0168 ED and she is thrilled with her new owner. She will be the envy of so many. tongascrew
To everybody who's travelling to Italy to see or participate in the Mille Miglia or Ferrari Tribute: have a good one! Gr. Martin
Not a great start. It's raining a lot in Veneto and there's risk of flooding in some cities. They're deviating on the highway.
...but a gorgeous finish. Beautiful (mostly clear) third day. Forza Mille! Image Unavailable, Please Login David
