    As a lover of the English language, I've always had an appreciation for profanity, whereas most other people shunned it... Since this is the current Off Topic topic, I figured 'why not perpetuate it with some actual research?'...

    So click here for a list of Wikipedia's minced oaths... Feel free to contribute other facts and stories about curse words... :)

    I once heard that, in the 1800s, the word "pants" was a curse in England... Can anyone confirm that...? Imagine using the word "pants" on 19th century FerrariChat - you'd get banned... :D

    "Pants" is still frowned upon in England. Just a couple of years ago a government worker rejected an asylum application and told the applicant his excuses for wanting asylum were "a pile of pants." The gov't worker was sacked.

    What we call "pants," the english call "trousers." Pants are what you wear under your trousers. They are also commonly called knickers. Shouting "pants!" at someone talking a load of bollocks is definitely not polite. Funny though!

    The English are odd folk. I should know, I'm married to one. :D

    The English motorcycle rags will call an inexperienced poseur a "pants" rider.

    Words used as frofanity change from century to century. Also during the 16th or 17th century you could not use the word breast or the word leg. The proper word was limb.

    Minced oaths are fine on an intarwebnet forum, since such directness and truth of language might offend those with contrived sensibilites.

    In the real world, that which is considered profane happens to be the most descriptive language to use when attempting to convey a thought or emotion with a few, yet startlingly truthful words.

    Everything else, I dare say, is merely futt-buckery.
