I'm thinking of installing straight race pipes on my 360M.F1 for track days and wonder if these CEL mini-cat converters work.

Has anybody had any continued success in avoiding the CEL with any particular brand (eg Fabspeed, Redback etc)?

Has anybody tried more than one in series together?

I have hi-flow cats on my 360, and was getting the downstream CEL. After installing Big Daddy mini-cats it as stayed off.

I hold a stock of these, mainly for later cars with less catalytic converter in them than was designed (by choice). I have used them for a couple of 360's with test pipes and they do a good job of catalysing the exhaust gas so the rear lambda signal is acceptable for the ECU.

One thing I will say is that you will not get on any track in the UK with test pipes due to noise levels. I've got a 360 in at the moment with a Capristo level 3 and test pipes - it is so loud I wear ear defenders when it's running!

LOL - the noise limits at a lot of UK tracks on trackdays are now silly low.
    Bedford being a prime example.

I have installed test pipes on my 1999 360 and went with Big Daddy. They helped me determine what I needed. I installed one on the left bank and two inline on the right bank. It sounds great and no CEL's on the dash to speak of yet but I only have 2000 km on the car since and have not been to a drive clean facility to have it tested. Keep in mind the 1999 360 do not have any pre cats.

Will they work on a F430? I just have AP headers and sline exhaust with 02 extenders, but I still get the cel.

I'm interested in knowing more about this since it worked for all my applications.

Did you just got an extender, or this particular one, extender with just a pin hole?

I ran Fabspeed mini-cats on my Fabspeed test pipes. It didn't work for me. CEL after about 20mins. It also created additional problems. I have a thread on it.

Thanks everyone. Big Daddies seem to have a couple of positive write-ups. Presumably due to all the rhodium etc inside it.

Aldous, I take your advice seriously. Which ones do you have in stock? And what is the cost? As for track day, it would have to be unlimited - possibly a special event. And avoids the Corsa-boys.

Flea7, I'm aware of your thread (sorry about it) and note the particular one that hasn't worked for you.

Interesting - thanks guys. A lot of hit and miss with several different makes. So no guaranteed solution or supplier. Presumably much will depend on other aspects of annowner's set-up and the quality of the parts/set up itself.

I think I will just have to go for it and report back on my own successes / failures for the benefit of future owners.

Best to get the ECUs tweaked/flashed to forever remove this. Steve at Mase Engineering, Jacksonville, FL can do this.
