    Hello Everyone,

Maybe you want to look at this one, see if your car needs attention on this area.

My 1988 328 GTS was found to have the following problems during alarm system installation.

    1. The speaker cone has decomposed.

    2. The moisture barrier on both doors has been tampered with and was taped back using duct tape in a messy manner.

#1 fix was easy, I found a guy who can re-cone speakers. I did not just buy a set of new speakers because the original ones are still good.

#2 was a small project. The stereo shop fixed it for me.

    Pictures of the process below.

I like it, didn't know that caulk strip existed. I'll put that in the memory banks for future use.

I used 3M double sided tape on mine - think I got it at Home Depot. It's a good idea to check the drain holes in the door bottom while you're in there. If they clog the water from rain (horrors!) or washing the car will just sit there and form rust

Hi PV Dirk, The best adhesive for this is probably something that does not cure. I had opened up a Nissan Sentra after 7 years of use and was able to peel off a corner of the plastic sheet and re-apply it back. I had no luck finding it so the 3M caulk strip was used. Well, at least it worked for me so I am not shy recommending it to folks here.

Hi shawxhurst, Good idea on checking the drain hole. Is it located toward the front or the back? (I do not have my car at the moment; it is getting some work done by mechanics to find out why the long cranking to start the engine.)
