Any suggestions on buffing out minor wear on the driver's seat of a 94 348 Spider? Got a little roughness around the side bolster. Having a PPI done Saturday. While I sit around I figure I can make good use of the time. Already know I am going to be polishing the exhaust spring metal disks and maybe cleaning some water spots off of the engine bay. Nothing major, car is not mine yet.

On the buffing I was thinking of using regular old clear leather polish to smooth out the roughness by building up a base coat then polishing it to a consistant finish with a cotton shirt.

    Go to colorplus.com.

Send them a 1x1 leather color sample, they will send you some colorant, you will wipe it on with a cotton ball, the spot will disapear.

    Really.

Sometimes you can cut a piece from under the seat. Always a little extra overlap.

Check leatherique. I redyed my 308 seats with there black dye. Good match and I did not send a sample.

How about removing a small interior part that is the same color? Like the e-brake handle or something. Insure it and send it. Or they might have done Ferrari tan previously and know the mixture.

Yeah - isn't the interior tan trim on your 348 called "nero" and it is generic to all 348's ?

My 308 was quite Nero all over - the 348 I am looking at has a tan interior. Sorry for the confusion.

If you want to get the leather repair / redye kit from Leatherique it is around $65. The color for Ferrari tan is saddle (color #3218 I think). It has a reconditioner to make the leather soft and clean it, as well as the dye to match the color of the surrounding leather. I have read various good / bad reviews, so I may go the route of a local leather mobil redye service. I have almost the exact same thing on my 348ts.

I had great sucess with Swissol Leather Healer. I had the same issues with my seat and was pleased with the way my seats turned out. The trick was to put many applications with very small amounts at a time. I'm sure I put 20 or 30 coats on but it really was worth it.The best part was I didn't have to take out the seats and the leather stayed soft. Good Luck

After all these years I am still surprised that people have not learned how to get into a seat without draggin' their a** across the side bolster. I have owned cars with 100,000 miles on them and the seats look great. Sorry was that a rant? yea I guess it was, sorry I got wound up. HaHaHa

Anyway ditto on what micheal B said. use a little 600 grit sand paper to smooth off the ruff edges first. Regards, Vern

That's probably cuz you don't eat fride chikn like we do here in the hills ;)

The 600 should work pretty well - just make sure you have your dye first!
