Looking for a fine and honest Ghibli. The ones on the market mostly seem in great need of work or complete renovation. If anyone knows of a car that's straight and true, and with reasonable price, please contact.

What do you mean with "true" and "reasonable"?. Very good to excellent Ghibli are expensive. Also, do you prefer the 4.7 or 4.9? Then - are you considering your search in the US or in EU?

I am looking for a car that has been renovated not too long ago, by a shop or someone who knows what they are doing and have done Ghiblis before. I doesn't have to be a recent renovation but the car should be in very good over all condition, ready to handle long trips.
Reasonable price?...I am aware that prices have gone up but I don't quite know what cars actually sell for. Although I believe prices will continue up in the longer trend, it would surprise me if classic cars didn't take a beating in the recession ahead.
I'm looking at a very nice Grifo at a good price here at home but haven't made my mind up yet.
SS would be top of list, US or Europe doesn't matter that much.

Here is a car I would definately pay a premium for. The quintessential of a GT car IMHO.

Tabacco metallizato, senape interior and Borranis.

    Yep, thats a very attractive
-and rare- color combination. So a Ghibli in this livery doesn`t stand on every corner.

    I`ll send you a PM.

I do not know what "Reasonable" means. I hope it means about US $125,000. Anything below $100,000 is going to have needs. Even a $125,000 car may easily need $5,000-$10,000 to get everything working and on the road. Happy Hunting!

You can try WWW.Classicdriver.com Open it up scroll down the right side until you see a car for sale, click on the add and a new page will open. Click on the Maserati icon on top of the page and a listing of Masers for sale will show. They probably have a dozen Ghiblis for sale. DO NOT FORGET to have an expert do a pre-purchase inspection. Also add in the cost of transporting the car to where ever you are.

That Tabacco Ghibli looks absolutely stunning.

The one let-down, and it can be seen on other US Ghibli's, are the extra side-markers: Instead of replacing the original side-indicators, extra holes were drilled and another light placed. Is there any reason for this? Spoils the whole car, and altogether not inexpensive to rectify.

I have a US Ghibli and when I had it restored the side marker lights "Fell off". It looks much better but not as good as the original Ghibli that had no handles on the outside of the doors. I thought about that conversion but I was worried about too many complications and als the cost. I thought if the doors were operated electrically I will get locked in or out of the car. If I tried a hidden handle that would be complicated.

I agree completely on the lights. I have a mint XJS conv. with only 30' miles, imported from the US with the same "light problem".

Regarding the colors on this Ghibli, I'm curious as to how many cars were painted in the Tabacco Metallizzato. I don't think many Ghiblis have this color scheme today. To me, it's such an "enhancer" of an "understated gentlemans GT car" together with the discreet but classy "senape" interior. Therefore, of great importantance...;)
