Mirror defrost switch question

    OK guys, is the mirror defrost switch a momentary switch, like the door lock and unlock switch, or is it an on off switch like the sport and fog lights? Mine is working like a momentary switch and the light on the dash only stays on for the amount of time I hold the switch down. Seems to me this should be an on / off switch. Is mine broken or the wrong part or how do yours seem to work? Thanks

    Oh...additionally, my door lock switch is not working...can they be cleaned with contact cleaner? Is there an alternate source for them or am I looking at placing an order with Daniel?

    I think the defrost switch is for the back window, not the mirrors, but yes it should stay on until you turn it off. Since your door lock switch is not working either, sounds like you should take the switches out and clean the contacts. Pretty simple to take them out, lots of threads on dis-assembly of the center console parts in all the sticky threads. If they're not working after that, either order new ones or live without defrost and door locks.

    From memory I have it the other way around.... it's for the mirrors and MAYBE the rear window too. Can't remember now....

    Defrost is a ON/OFF switch. Mine will defrost the rear window..

    Let me know if you clean them up and they don't work properly. I have extras here that work perfect I can send you to make sure it is the switch and not another problem. When your done, just send them back...

    On my spider it is for the mirrors and stays on when pushed.

    Sorry, guys, wasn't even thinking of spiders. I have a berlinetta, so to me the defrost button is OF COURSE for the rear window...

    Haha, my bad.

    Still, seems like it should be an on-off switch.
