Interesting : A neighbour retired Macquarie banker who always had Porsche 911's last one being a 991 Carrera ,last 3 years a Audi RS3 hatch has now swapped over to a AMG 45s .. Either prefers the A45s or could not wait till the new generation of Audi RS3's come out at the end of 2021.
I was having the exact same thought yesterday. One of them will most probably be my next choice . I prefer the looks of the current AMG A45S, however I would expect the next Audi RS3 to be the better car. The interior of the AMG is phenomenal though. Audi too understated IMO, however the next model may change that. Have to wait and see. Of course, save 35-40K or so and get a Golf 8.
I'd go for the Golf GTi. Then turn it over once out of warranty and just keeping turning 'em over ....less of a drain on the bank acc. Are you a drain ...asking for fellow GG members .

No. Not at all. I've been tempted at a few period converted Corvette's lately. I wasn't aware you knew Tony Smith btw. But in hindsight, it should've been obvious. Awesome guy!

Are you sure you're not thinking of F + B Steen? They not only did conversions but had a yard, in Elsternwick IIRC. I think they also lived in a lovely Neil Clerehan house in Caroline Street SY.
Could be ,so long ago I was a child late father always said once the cars were converted from left to right hand drive they were not the same in feel . It was all tied in with Chappell Engineering , I think they did the conversion and Steen sold the cars , Flinkiers were also involved ? Image Unavailable, Please Login
