Cheers man, wow! I didn’t realise they were that expensive new. I’ll buy one for $50k in 5 years time. Cheers for letting me know.

I very much like this little rare number: https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1973-lotus-elan-2-manual/SSE-AD-15845510/?Cr=9 .....and it's mate being sold by Arv: https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1973-lotus-elan-sprint-manual/SSE-AD-15769995/?Cr=10
NO thanks having owned 2x Formula 2 cars with Twin Cams and all the issue NO thank you. That owner has owned that car for decades -I often would see it in Fitzroy in the 90s
I prefer the rarer 5 speed. More practical, history, rarity, colour and near enough to the same performance characteristics......until Pat chimes in! ...........and then there's this on the club site: https://www.clublotus.com.au/2023/09/for-sale-1973-lotus-europa-jps-special/ or even this James Bondy: https://www.clublotus.com.au/2023/09/for-sale-1985-lotus-esprit-turbo-series-3/
Love an Esprit, but the S3 is kind of the awkward middle child. For proper old school you need an S1 or S2, and then the S4 completely changed the game (in a good way).
You got me going with the 1985 Esprit. I'd love a HC or an early dry sump car. Or that car, until I saw the images on the big screen. Lovingly improved over the last 26 years. Gosh, I'd shudder to see it before. Hmmm. So it's done a bit over 6,000kms in 26 years, I suppose the owner really loved it. I just don't get why you'd make a claim like the above and not even bother to clean the interior properly before photographing it. And duct tape on the air intake and an engine bay that looks like a VN with 658,000 kms? At least they named the mechanic, so you know where not to take it. Unless the owner told the mechanic to change the oil. And nothing else. I suppose you'd forgive the presentation if the owner was 173 and blind. But then again, if you asked my advice about a used car, you'd never buy anything. Happy days.
I'm with you Carl. Funnily enough, I saw this car on Facebook market place Saturday night. The photos on there are really bad. I actually think it's an Adelaide delivered car - if so, its missing the original books but I do know who currently possesses them. The seller is an engineer, so just maybe, its been mechanically well maintained. The problem with Esprits is they don't wear well with age - with the exception of that dry sumped copper fire car I inspected and missed out on 2020, the leather interiors in Esprits wear very badly unless are very cared for. Ditto for exteriors. It's probably because they used the cheapest Connolly leather and cheapest paints. I also hate the fact this car had its seats recovered and lost the original ruche look (see photo below). Typical Chapman - makes a poorly built great car. In fact, its quintessentially British. Ferrari can look good with patina - Lotus' seldom do. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The HCi is the pick - last of the paper dart shape, and great mid-range torque. The next model had the same mechanicals, but the Peter Stevens design stretched the cabin by 50mm, which was badly needed. Terrible brakes, BTW.
CTS-asking # 327K------I wouldn't give you 50k for one of those things. Image Unavailable, Please Login
