AKS Can you see me driving an Aston Martin with a Holden engine? I would love a DB-S V8 with fuel injection. It does appear difficult to find a good one, however.
It's been here not that long ago,ex UK 4.7 3 pedal: https://www.oldtimeraustralia.com/wp_car_dealer/1970-maserati-indy-4-7-manual/
Yes that's my fathers car. I wish he had dropped the front a little, my brother and I both commented on the nose high position. He bought it from Brooklands a quarter of a century ago. It was his dream car as a young man. He did the entire car himself, except for the paint, which I did, as well as his Cobra before that and now I have my brothers 911 at some stage It was purchased in silver, and red previous to that, but he put it back to its original colour, (Caribbean Pearl I think it is) which I love! Great car, sounds good too, but he always seems to love the build more than driving them so it's for sale. Someone came up from Melbourne on the weekend and is very interested. Very difficult to price a car with such a non original driveline though.
Sounds like the car gave Dad (and you) lots of pleasure. I'm sure you bonded further over the paint! It's a beautiful colour IMO. I admit when the car was listed I went straight to U.K. Ebay and Car and Classic to sniff around any potential engines. The transmission is a ZF, they're actually quite easy to source, if a tad expensive. I'm curious why Dad chose the 308 over a 350? Hope it goes to a good home.
Thanks, yeah, seen that one in Melbourne. Great colour for it IMO. The Indy is a bastard child of the Maserati flock it seems. It's a lot of car for the money. Same transmission in the Aston Martin in the previous post.
Hi Carl, yes it's a great way to spend time with Dad, he passed on his love of cars to both me, a former spray painter and my brother a former mechanic. As I'm sure you're aware it takes many months to prep and paint a car when you only have weekends to work on it. Dad is quite amazing, he is now 83 and still does everything himself, you never see a tradesman at his place! He stripped the entire car back to bare aluminium, welded on new, genuine repair sections where required. I helped convince him to paint it in its original colour, which wasn't too hard as he had a DB9 at the time and they were almost identical in colour. They looked great side by side! Sadly the DB9 got stolen, he really loved that car, and although it was recovered remarkably unscathed he felt a sort of violation and lost the spark. It got purchased by Glenn Shorrock funnily enough. Regarding the engine choice, as this project is so old I think he sourced the 308 way back when they were still just being used. When the car was nearly finished my brother and I said to him why don't you just stick an LS crate engine in it? I think his response was something like, I have a perfectly good 308 sitting there ready to bolt in .
Yes it looks pretty cool doesn't it. He was quite proud of himself. As I said to Carl we tried to convince him to put and LS in it, but he's pretty frugal and set in his ways I guess.

They were a bit rushed, I had a few more but there was some blur from condensation from my hand. Hastings street was shoulder to shoulder!! Had to park many km's away. Plenty of car fans around.
