My father had a thing for Vanguards (assembled by AMI) so (a) AMI was imprinted on me at an early age and (b) I've never recovered from the shame of being driven around in the horrible things.

Belting along on Monday in the Caterham at about 80 mph. Shut her down to avoid summary execution. Loss of power; lots of smoke ala 'puffing billy'. Can't be good. Pull up; flames out the inlet cutout. Jack be nimble. 2 burning air filter elements on roadway in under 10 seconds. Sans exstiguisher. Disaster averted. Car cooled down & still ran. Drove 100 klm home. Even a bit sharper without pesky paper elements. Time for velocity stacks. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
