How many people are suppose to be behind the wheel on the track ? One challenge seat and one huge fire-extinguisher, rollcage and other useless crap for a weekend warrior
One challenge seat and one huge fire-extinguisher, rollcage and other useless crap for a weekend warrior[/QUOTE] Some Challenge drivers were FAST so safety gear was advisable to have.
Cracker day at the Leyburn sprints with Fiat mob yesterday... mint Abarth 1100 none of us had ever seen before; I mainly went to cheer on one of our family teams- Dad and 2 daughters with 124 Spider and x1/9. the girl driving the x1/9 was having her first go at sprints and was very nervous in the morning when the car wasn't idling correctly... mid afternoon and she'd trimmed her first time by 6 secs and was smiling from ear to ear! So where's the pic of the Abarth.? Oh you mean the 110 sedan built to look like one, never heard of 'em...is it genuine or like yours?
It appears I can answer that with a 'probably not'. I have no record of an Abarth made car or supplied kit to modify the 1100. Both my Abarth books and a couple of on line Abarth histories make nil mention of them. http://www.automobile-catalog.com/list-abarth.html I would suspect that if any were made, they would be in LHD form and if your pic is of a RHD then the owner would have had to convert it.................not something I'd have thought being a sensible idea to do to something so rare... The only other one I could find is
Bloody time limit. ...a RHD 'evocation' ,similar to your example, racing in Britain. https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-fiat-1100-racing-at-the-goodwood-revival-78844779.html https://www.peterjames.com/dt_gallery/fiat-abarth-evocation/ Here is the factory 1100 listing. http://www.automobile-catalog.com/model/fiat/1100_1200_typ_103.html
GRRR Bloody time limit... Sorry to burst your bubble with that.....good to see a bit of research on a subject goes a long way......
Didn't get a chance to talk to the owner, and I don't think anyone imagined I meant a factory Abarth, but I'm sure you realise that in the era, Abarth produced few 'factory' models, mostly they were an aftermarket 'upgrades' suppliers so I'm OK with referring to an 'uprated' car with the prefix, although (as you well know) I usually use the term 'Abarth-ed' to describe such vehicles. Sorry for the confusion.
