Did you buy a new manual 430? A manual 575?
Even a second hand one of either?
Would you suddenly march into your local Ferrari dealer and order an F8 or an 812 if it had an old codgers gearbox?
I doubt it.

You don’t even think any Ferrari made after Old Mate dropped off the twig is a proper Ferrari anyway, so what do you care?

The fact is manual gearboxes have had their time in the sun.
They simply don’t cut it any more.

Reading that article about the Aston should make it obvious.
It’s slower, they’ve had to turn the engine down, and it doesn’t give anything back in any way.

Tell you what, let’s see how many they’ve sold in a couple of years shall we?

 

Steve....old mate...,it's on record here sooooo many times that I have zero interest in a Ferrari past the year of 1990.
.....having said THAT,I could/would be tempted in driving a 456 or 550 but only with.........................................

I am happy as a pig in poo with my '11 Datto 370Z manuel,which apparently has some driver aids.... that I have turned off/don't know how to turn on.

I don't GAF how many any manufacturer sells whatever as I pretty much don't have interest in the modern highend of the carchain.

When you're at one with a manual shift car it gives you involvement and satisfaction....IMO.

 

I'd much rather have a stick in my 360. The F1 is ok and I still love to drive it, but nowhere near the driving experience of changing gears and heel n toe braking.
Adams car is the first red/tan Aussie 360 I've seen for sale in 2 years. The 355, 360 and 430 manuals are the most sought after cars. Yes there is a reason for this as there were fewer made, but I think the driving enthusiast really loves changing gears. Who cares about how many mili seconds an F1 shifts!!
Even in my Hyundai I Load work van I love changing gears, wouldn't think of an auto.

Not quite. There are many more manual 355s than 355F1s.
Yes the manual cars attract a premium at the moment (especially in 360s and 430s), but I suspect in ten or so years that will no longer be the case. Adam is wise to sell his now.

 

Must admit I enjoy having one F1 box in the garage....It's something different although it's a PITA in traffic.....In saying that I still gravitate to the stick shifts if I want to go for a quick drive....Normally the V12 as it's a proper car.....
