Olio. I was literally asking myself the same question. I thought my inferior schooling was to blame. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sent the Vette to the dyno this week to sort out carby jetting, as it was leaning out above 4000rpm. The guys found an issue with a carby vacuum port that wasn't drilled properly, plus some ignition issues. They played with combinations of jets, the end result was another 40hp so I was wrapped, car is running brilliantly. Watching your car being run on a dyno is not for the faint hearted, but it's the only way to get optimal fuel and ignition setup. Until I got home and found my fuel gauge lens cracked - only thing I can figure is having the car strapped down on the dyno, the big torque the engine generates may have given the chassis enough of a twist to load the dashboard. Changing the lens means steering column and dash out again, a 2 day job that I've only just done. Ugh. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Depends what factor you use for drive train loss, but circa 400. Grunt is the same up to 3000rpm but where it used to fade away after that, it now continues. Serious fun
Ouch, that hurts! Note that I'm not claiming miracles. Car was 390hp from the factory, I've added a roller cam, lighter pistons and fully balanced it, which should add around 5%, which the dyno backs up. The best race engine builder in Australia did the heads of my Daytona and I used higher compression pistons, all of which added 8% to the factory power. It's hard to improve on the smart engineers who design engines.

I wonder how much Lloyds paid for this. https://www.9news.com.au/national/holden-monaro-auction-1969-hdt-king-of-the-mountain-up-for-auction/027bcd4a-877e-4923-a030-772850cbd43b
I think K&A quite enjoyed their ‘plastic fantastic’ for a time, but it was a fairly short lived resident in their garage. Not sure if reliability was the issue?
Bit more Monty here... This excellent looking auction has now been brought forward.. https://online.doningtonauctions.com.au/m/view-auctions/catalog/id/36
