Most of the reports I've read are saying that the new interior is a step down from the 7.5 It has gone to 100% touch-screens which is a major PITA when all you want to do is change the temp etc. Apparently it means many touches / swipes / taking your eyes off the road to do even simple functions. The 7.5 has a nice blend of screens and physical buttons, meaning everything is easy to work with. It's also reported that some of the materials used in the 8 look and feel cheaper.
7.5 is definitely a nice place to live Lack of physical buttons MIGHT be an issue unless you can use voice commands like in a Mercedes.
Fair point. It may well have. Even the 7.5 has some level of voice control, but I hardly ever use it given it's got Apple Carplay, so Siri works and links through the car systems. It think it's still nice to have physical buttons for some things, but maybe I'm old fashioned...
Totally agree, muscle memory is a great thing while driving. You know where a control is, it's always there and ready to go. I totally want tech in cars, but putting everything on screens is just crazy if we don't have autonomous driving in the vehicle. Crap like this is just plain stupid IMHO (the only way to control the centre vent in the Panamera)
Correct. And my understanding is that is the same situation in the Mk. 8 Things that really should be simple require far more work (and distraction) than necessary. I may be biased but I think the balance is right in the 7.5
If the voice activation works you don't need the switches. The Mercedes is amazing and I have no reason to think vw would be any different. "Change the drivers side temperature to 24 degrees " "turn the fan speed to level 1/auto " It's like Siri or google assistant...it's that good
Hmmm. That's pretty good. How do you activate it? ie. Is there a sequence of words to make it "listen"? Otherwise how would it know that you weren't just talking to your wife?
Hey Mercedes in the Mercedes Hey Bmw in a bmw You can programme the bmw to respond to Mercedes, which is hilarious. Apparently Mercedes doesn't have a sense of humour. However if you ask a Mercedes what it thinks of a bmw it answers "same as you. You're sitting here aren't you?"
What’s the need for quarantine in Cairns? Asking because my niece is up there on holiday at present...
Because the silly sausage got on an aeroplane in Sydney for Cairns thinking she was exempt...and she wasn't!
