Yesterday, I looked at a yellow '92 348TS that had a paint code label "rosso corsa". The original delivery information indicated the car was yellow and, on my admittedly amateur inspection, there were no indications of a repaint. The car is for sale (through a consignment) by the original owner. Supposedly, the original owner ordered a yellow car and it might have been repainted by the factory pre-delivery. Anyone comments? Might the "rosso corsa" label have been applied in error?

I noticed a small (about an inch) paint crack on the right buttress. Typical?

Interestingly, the car has very low mileage. Service records are sketchy, apart from original delivery information and service books. Appears to have only been serviced once early in its life.

    Thanks guys.

That is interesting about the sticker on the engine cover. Perhaps the engine cover was replaced at some point and fitted with a Rosso one, which was then painted yellow?? :D:D

Or they DID respray it at the factory or when it landed in the USA/Canada before the new owner took delivery of it?? Wouldnt suprise me in the least. ;);)

Sketchy service history would lower my interest in that car. :):)

Cracks in the rear buttress are common in these cars. Mine has them also on the left rear. :):)

    Thanks Pap

I speculated that the rear deck might have been replaced, but the paint decal appeared to have been applied after the paint rather than masked. However, there are good painters out there and my observations are that of an amateur. Thanks for the comment on the buttress I agree the lack of service records is disconcerting. Seems odd that the long-time owner has not provided or is unable to provide the consignee with service records.

I would be concerned as well. Maybe hiding something. Maybe as simple as needs major service. Who knows? But you would think the original owner would have kept better records or at least could put you in contact with the person who might have serviced it.

This is a buyers market. Look elsewhere!
