    Greetings,

I have just purchased a 2007 599, and today, I noticed that it seems to be missing the shield shaped badge the car usually wears on the side adjacent to the front wheel arch. Just wondering what the deal with this is? The car has every extra(with the exception of the challenge wheels), even the daytona parcel shelf, yet is missing this badge.

    Thanks in advance,
    Shane.

Do you have it in the drivers side, that would really be a big mistake. Check on the window sticker if you can find it, but fender Scuderia shields are an optional item.

The logo is mising on both sides. My guess is that the previous owner asked for them not to be put on? He is actually a ferrari dealer and is currently waiting on a california (odd trade i know..) so he knows his stuff. I have never seen a 599 as highly spec'd as this one so I just thought it was odd that the badges were mising.

'they are an option. They might have not been spec'd on your car.

I think it would be fairly obvious if it had been removed as I belive that the factory option shields are actually recessed into the fender..i.e. if it were missing, there should be an indentation where the sheild was.

It is very possible your car was not ordered with the scuderia shields. If the dealer who owned the car provided you with the sticker, manifest, invoice, documentation from when he owned the car, it would be pretty clear whether or not it was ordered with it.

On another note, OH MY GOD WHAT A CAR!!!!!!! I changed from a db9 to this, and while I will miss the aston's aesthetics, the Ferrari is just a staggering car. The gearbox is a masterpiece.

Does anyone know if the HGTE wheels will be available to buy separately?

Shane- Affirmative on the HGTE wheels. If your 599 has a serial number of 156938 or later, you can have the entire HGTE kit installed if you want. See Boardwalk's ad here for all the details. Incidentally, if I am not mistaken, you have 19" F, 20" rear wheels, which were standard. Fitting HGTE wheels will give you 8.5 x 20s on the front vs your 8 x 19s.

I like your car better without the shields, by the way, and your 599 is very attractive. Shields are just a matter of taste.

I'm not a big fan of the shields on street cars, personally. I think they're a bit much.

Actually it looks VERY nice without them....

I'd make him give you the Challenge Wheels though!! LOL!

Congrats on your purchase, that's a very fine looking car.

..and put some Tire shine on that thing....LOL!

    They look a little dusty!

Interesting, they won't retrofit a manual transmission..what the reason for that?

I like the way you guys think! It does look quite 'stealthy' in nero without them..

Now all I need is a white Scud. Damn, where did I put my wallet...

Looks fantastic. So, after switching from an Aston to a Ferrari, would you ever go back?

Hmm.. that's a good question. I have to say, I am still very fond of the new v12 Astons. I was just about to pull the trigger on a new manual DBS (a cracking car, by the way), when my dealer informed me of the 599. I feel there's just such a sense of 'theatre' with the DB9 and DBS. It makes me want to wear a tuxedo every time I drive one, lol! They are however, different animals altogether in comparison to the Ferrari. While a lot of comparisons have been made regarding the DBS and the 599, to me personally, the Ferrari is much more of a hard edged racer. The Aston does not have the pace of the F-car, yet it could possibly appeal to me more for a cross country voyage. I think the interiors of both cars depicts perfectly the attitude of each one: the Ferrari is focussed with its carbon fibre and purposeful styling; the Aston's interior is much more laid back and exudes luxury. In an ideal world, I'd have both and drive whichever car my mood corresponded to. However I am happy to report that I simply adore my new 599 and can't see myself trading it in for an Aston anytime soon.

PS: Apologies if my grammar is messy, I'm in a bit of a rush!
