my 348s is officially on sale to make room for 997 gt3 and i think i may be making mistake. weather in northeast has been beautiful and ive detailed car, put roof down, set tire pressures and couldnt be happier. driving home from work this evening top down, heater on, heel-toeing what could be better??

could p match steering feel, noise, or just special event feel of driving fcar? have till july to back out of deposit and now thinking real hard about this. i know im preaching to choir here but how about some 'fair and balanced' opinions

I think the 997 GT3 is the only that can satiate your apparent love for visceral cars. It will also have a warranty, and it's a Porsche-- you can daily drive it! I say go for the Porsche. Don't forget you can always get another car, always. Sometimes a change will change you though... who knows, you might end up getting more attached to the three. Whatever choice you make, your in great cars man!

997 GT3 - that must be 360 territory. Mmmm... I'd have to drive 'em both...

I have a feeling the 997 GT3 is more Challenge Stradale territory. I'd bet it drives circles around 360 Modenas. But however you cut it, it's not a Ferrari, and since both cars are extremely fast (in the macrocosm of the car world), the ferrari could provide more of an experience... maybe. The GT3 will be an amazing car.

I guess you could "stray" from the marque for a little while. :) You never know, you may end up back in a ferrari. Lifes short,so if you want to drive a porsche,go for your life! :D They are more so daily drivers,is that what you are looking for??

Nothing anyone can say here will be unbiased my friend. A Ferrari is simply a special car that only special people can appreciate. They have a soul that no other machine on earth has, and never will. If you dont have that feeling towards the car, nothing anyone can say will alter your course. For what its worth, I will never own a P car. Id want an old Jag, or something equally interesting, but P cars just dont ring my bell. And it has nothing to do with speed, performance, or reliability. People would never own 250 GTO's or old carbed 308's if those were the top reasons to own a car.

I agree with most of this, although I had a P-car and it was fast and dependable. Modern cars don't excite me. The Ferrari just looks, sounds and smells right, everyone knows exactly what it is, and I can go months without seeing another 308/328 on public roads.

I wouldn't trade all of that even for huge performance gains in any flavor of 911, even the GT3. Just my opinion.

Maybe keep both. (You knew this thread was going to be useless when you started it, right? ;))

Selling a Ferrari to buy a Porsche? Man, you are going the wrong way. Heresy.

You'll miss that Ferrari and be looking for another next year. I'm not telling you anything you don't know.

Go to the Porsche. If after you drive it a while you miss the Ferrari experience (which I think you will), go get another Ferrari. Maybe 512TR or a 430 spider by then??? I think the non power steering, go kart type feel of the 348 is the strongest aspect of the car. You will definitely get a different experience in ayn newer car (Porsche or Ferrari). But life is short, so get the most experience you can out of it.
Good luck in the decision, I'm betting you will get the GT3.

wow, im very surprised you guys are mostly in favor of the porsche. reason this all came up is wifes rover is due off lease in fall and she wants mini conv to replace it which frees up $ for p lease.

biggest advantage p way i see it is warantee that eliminates most stress of 348 ownership. f adv is convertible and looks better with better engine sound but gt3 looks somewhat special and should have huge performance advantage.

thanks and have few more months to decide.

Never driven one myself, unfortunately, but is a GT3 really a good daily driver?

I'd keep the spider and get the GT3. While the warranty is nice on the PCar, the depreciation alone will more than offset any potential FCar repairs. If you MUST choose one or the other, I say get the Porsche. I've gone back and forth many times and that is part of the fun of this addiction we all share. Just like any hardened addict sometimes ya gotta hit your system with a different kind of jolt.

    I've driven both a 348 and a GT3
    owned a 328 and a 911 and 993.
I've got nothing but good things to say about Porsche.
I would think owning a GT3 would be exceptional.
I'm considering a 328/348 again, just because I have two Porsche.
it's always good to have a Porsche. :))

I agree. I was expecting a much more thorough virtual beating administered by the FChat resident angry hordes.

I personally feel we should have gone a lot harder on you for this wretched decision. Sorry more pain wasn't inflicted. Possibly we'll give you more grief and anguish once you sell the 348.
