Mitchell Report is set to come out today, I've already heard the names Roger Clemens, Andy Pettite, and others associated with the list. Looks to be a dark, dark day for MLB today.

as of right now, i've got a string of profanities that i would like to yell...first of all, why would you name darryl kyle? he passed away about 5 years ago. i've got a lot more things to say on this topic once i calm down a little bit.

Its a comprehensive list of players who were linked to steriods, not necessarily all of them used steriods. Beyond that, this is an investigation not an indictment so this list is by no means mistake free.

That said, should we forgive people transgressions just because they have passed away. We have not forgiven or stopped criticizing the Black Sox for throwing the world series even though most, if not all, of those players have since died. Certainly a said day for baseball but IMO they had it coming, they totally ignored this problem for the past decade hoping it would go away and now some of their biggest stars have been implicated.

i'm a little calmer now, and you make a good point. now comes the time when mlb and mlbpa, not to mention the teams, need to decide what they're going to do about this. here's the full report: http://assets.espn.go.com/media/pdf/071213/mitchell_report.pdf
all i can say is, if the names named in this report turn out to acknowledge they took steroids, we just lost a lot of the most major stars. a-rod is definitely now worth 20-30 mil a year imo.

Caminiti is obviously no surprise, he admitted it. IMO, he is the first player to actually bring to light the big issue of steroid use. I still remember him being interviewed by Jim Rome in 2002 (I believe) and naming names. Rome seemed almost shocked that Ken was even being so open without any pressure.

Will be an interesting next few months for sure. Talk will probably die down in January and come back in full force just prior to the season starting.

Rolls, I know what you mean about Kyle, but you have to set his death aside. He played for both our teams. I always like watching him pitch.

A girl I work with just told us her boyfriend worked at the astrodome as a teenager. His job was to clean out lockers and such of both teams. He apparently found steroids left behind in Bonds locker once.

I have no proof to prove this, but too odd of a story for her or him to just make up.

This whole deal makes me sick. Not just the fraud perpetuated on all fans of many sports but the monster this crap creates.

My son starts and scores varsity soccer as a freshman. 9th grade, 14 yrs. old. Does pretty well. At one of our last games an 11th grader from a neighboring school, who we have known since he was 5, comes out bulked up, 30 pounds heavier. At one point some from our team chanted, steroids-steroids. The kids dad is a trainer at an athletic club.

Then I talked to some 21 yr. olds who train, workout. They say it's so easy to get and that they know of high school kids using the injectable stuff. They tell of coach's knowing, saying nothing as they want to win too.

So if you think this is just a fraud on your favorite sport, or that maybe it's ok because everyone does it. I don't think so.

Problem is you will have to trash a lot of heroes all at once to change anything.

I remember when McGwire was in his first years in Oakland. tall and thin. Now he looks like the Michelin Man. Hindsight we now know why the change. Surely there were people in the sport who knew what was going on but chose to look the other way.

By ignoring this tragedy what would have been a a manageable embarrassment has turned into a major crisis for the sport.

And of course the fact that so many youngsters immulate the sports stars is tragic as it ruins lives.

Moral: When nobody wants to be the bad guy almost everybody becomes the bad guy. Sad as it is and was avoidable.

I remember in my culinery techniques class (cooking) in 2003, I was offered steroids by a kid. Meanwhile, at the time I had NEVER been offered any sort of drug or alcohol. I told him to get out of my face and get the hell away from me, but here I was in class and being offered it. I was 6'3" and thin. I wasn't working out, nor was I looking to. I found it shocking that a non-athelete, not even at a gym, was being offered it. That's when I knew that steroids were way too easy to come across.

That's the problem. HGH is not detectable in a test. Balco specialized in improved forms of steroid like enhancers that were not detectable. We are probably just starting to see the depth of it.

    ________

I am an Astros fan. The Astros gave up so many players a few days ago, for a veteran named Miguel Tejada. I guess his value, is worth just a little less a few hours later ?

The Astros mgmt, did not think about waiting for the report to come out ? They gave up five players, for one veteran player. Come on guys, where are your brains ?

    ________

    Sad day for beisbol

    ________

No reason to boo just Barry Bonds. Barry Bonds, is just one of many players, who are juicing it. I saw Barry Bonds play ball, when he was at ASU. He was tall and thin. So was Canseco, Bagwell, Giambi and many others.

Give the records back to Aaron and Maris.

i don't believe anybody in the league is completely clean: whether it was hgh, steroids, andro, amphetemines, everybody has used something at one point; to be honest, i really don't care anymore; baseball as any buisness is willing to focus on profits moreso than the well-being of the people they affect; i guess in some way were all guilty to some degree  whats funny to me is you can't really call canseco or bonds evil when it was a league-wide problem:eek:
