i like the NASIOC slam at the end, real mature arent 360's faster than evos? because i seem to remember that an evo is F355-fast
Umm, incase you missed it, the EVO 8 keeps up and can beat a Murcielago http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5639412376935133899&q=Top+Gear
. Yes, it might have gotten beat, but at the end of the day, I'm almost 100% sure that given a choice between the 360 and the Evo, the kids in the evo would have still chosen to walk away with the 360. why? because of the history behind the marque, the value, the sound! and the fact that its much MUCH better looking. first of all you and i cannot buy that evo because only 100 were made in the UK, nowhere else in the world. also that costs ~$75k USD. that evo has 400bhp, "normal" evos have in the 260-280bhp range - a slight difference but more importantly i was referring to acceleration, more specifically a stock US evo compared to any stock ferrari maybe i should retract my initial question, and replace it with this, because it seems i recieved an undesirable result: there is no way the 360 should have lost to the evo. the 360 is more powerful than the evo, and therefore can out accelerate it. i know this becuase i daily drive a modified evo, and spend tons of time researching and bench racing US evos. also when there are 3 extra people in my car, it is very slow compared to only having the driver in it, as 600 lbs is very detrimental to a lowly 2.0l engine
That was an FQ-something; much faster than a stock US model EVO8. I've got both an EVO8 and a Ferrari 328. I know which one I enjoy driving more. The EVO's brakes are impressive, though. (Of course, the EVO has fatter tires.)
Many if not all of these cars do not have proper brake and handling capabilities to keep up with Ferrari or other purpose built exotic cars. Enter the twisties and we will see who comes out the other end!
well i have a F512M and a EVO 8 THE EVO IS QUICKER FROM A STANDSTILL BUT DO 30 MPH IN BOTH AND PUT YOUR FOOT DOWN THE FERRARI WILL LEAVE IT FOR DEAD
Also when the Evo is parked next to a 512M it looks like a piece of trash on the ground in comparison to high art
The Evo 8 and the FQ400 are NOT the same car. The FQ400 was a very limited production car (not available in U.S.). The "FQ" stands for "F$^@ing Quick." No kidding, that's what it means. The 400 is for 400 HP. Mike
A few things : 1) This belongs in Cars, Motorcycles, etc... not here. 2) Zero - that's how much my eyebrows shot up by when reading thread title. I didn't even bother viewing the vid. Yet another Evo spanks yet another Ferrari. Big deal. Simple truth : Ferraris are not the fastest things out there, there are many other cars that can embarass F-cars. Quite a few of them are budget performers. 3) Straight line stock vs stock : the factory Evo will win from a dig up to around 40 mph vs a stock 360. From a roll at any speed, the Evo will lose. 4) Twisties : don't be so quick to conclude the Evo will lose. Evos are among the very best handling cars there are, and the handling is very accessible to the average driver, since a lot of it has to do with fancy Japanese electronics. The F-car just might conceivably lose. A 320 hp Evo consistently smoked a F-575 HGTC round the Top Gear test track, same racing driver, same ideal track conditions. The same Evo (and also the 400 hp cousin) lost to a 360 on the same track. Some Evos are faster than some modern F-cars, this is undeniable. 5) Speed isn't everything - Looks, luxury and brandname also mean something. This is why many people lust after Ferraris. 6) Looks, luxury and brandname aren't everything either - bang for the buck and *reliability* count too, which is why so many people are very happy with their Evos. At the end of the day, both Evos and Ferraris are fast cars, each having their strengths and weaknesses. There is no need to provoke, insult or deride anyone for liking one more than the other. We have F-car owners in Singapore who still take their Evos and WRXes for trackdays because they're cheap, reliable, tossable, and just as fast, if not faster than the F-cars round the track. A true performance enthusiast is blind to marque.
Psssssssssh thats nothing my honda can destroy a ferrari around a racetrack...well a mondial at least. >_>
Well said turboflat4. I agree about the true enthusiasts. I've had Ferrari owners marvel at my STi as much as I marvel at their Ferraris. Same with my Lotus Elise. A car nut is a car nut. They are all great cars in their own right. They're just different.... none "better" than the other. Mike
Mitsubishi has some interesting history too...they made the Japanese Zero airplane used in WWII...That being said, I love the EVO and STi and have a deposit on the upcoming Infiniti GT-R. The Japanese make great cars...
turboflat4 has it right...a gearhead is a gearhead and can appreciate all kinds of well executed vehicles...i am constantly amused by people who are militant defenders of one marque...sounds like the old chevy vs. ford arguments we all had in high school...
With my bone stock Subie STI I have reeled in many Ferraris on tracks, including 355's. Have not had occasion to go against any 360's yet. I lap 3X8's in short order, and I have been lapped by STI's in short order when I take my 328 to the track. The have great handling and big Brembos. Because of the track prowess, I nicknamed it "ego buster". Dave
ughh. i hate it when these things happen. its just the notion of a car whooped by another that is 1/5 the price really sucks. but i think this should be lesson to all f-car drivers. especially to those people who bought the car "because its a ferrari", and who arent 'true' car enthusiasts. these are the kind of ppl who would look at evos and wrx and go "pfffff." i think the owners of that 360 spider will think twice next time.
Nice video. can't take these things too seriously. Good for the Evo guys who obviously viewed the ferrari as God.
