"we're not in the GT business any more. We are a super sports car business." Does that mean they wont make tractors anymore either? http://www.samedeutz-fahr.com/lamborghini/
Too bad, that was a concept that I really liked. One of the few, where in one glance you knew that it was a beautiful car. There's no justifying, no "people will love it later."
I thought the concept was sort of cool to see, but I didn't think the car would succeed if produced. I think it's a smart move on Lambo's part to axe the car.
Darn, I was really hoping Lamborghini would come out with something that was competition for the Enzo...or at least close!
oh well, was a great idea but i guess its better this happened then risk the chance of it sucking and ruining the Miura legacy...
does this mean that the car isn't gonna be at any of the other autoshows? the toronto one is less than a week away, it woulda been nice to look at
I'm the biggest MIURA fan , and as a matter of fact I much prefered the older MIURA concept which was floating the internet a few months ago BTW does anyone have that pic? it was much cooler
What a shame. It would have been gorgeous and it could have gone toe-to-toe with the 599. I think it's a tactical mistake not to build it. I thought they were in the business of making money. Hmmm. Is the market large enough for a niche-only cars like the Murci, especially in this era of all-around supercars like the Bentley CGT and now the 599? Does anyone know the production/profit figures on the Murcielago? Maybe they plan to use an Audi/Bentley to combat Ferrari/Aston et al for the GT/Supercar class. It will be interesting to see. They sound confident, which is always good. Forza, Cavallini
Okay, I'm confused. What's the difference between a GT (the concept Muira in this case...a 2-seater at that) and a super sports car?
GT= Gran Turismo, as in a car designed for comfort, practicality and great performance; cars that are less extreme in their layout, performance etc than Supercars. Usually mid-engined V-12s are not considered GTs because they usually have very little interior and luggage space, are lower to the ground, and are tuned for track-like engine behavior and performance levels. They're called supercars. Ferrari has traditionally produced GTs in large numbers, with a few notable exceptions like the 512 BB and the Testarossa of the 80s. Their mid-engined V8s and occasional supercars, i.e. 288GTO, F40 etc., were more compromised and performance-driven. Most of the classic Ferrari V-12s were all GTs, and the Maranello line returned to those original roots. Their new 599 is very much a GT but it boasts supercar-like performance. Since the Countach, Lamborghini has been exclusively a supercar producer, although you could argue that the Miura and other early models were GTs, which is why their chief said they are only a supercar maker, not a GT producer. Forza, Cavallini
Lambo is only a super car maker? I wouldn't classify the Gallardo as a super car. I liked the Miura concept. Maybe they canceled it because someone swiped the mirror pieces.
don't quote me on this if i'm wrong, but the other day i read on local newspaper that the SUV isn't going to happen either, apparently they are not going to make a front engined Lambo anytime soon, which means the modern espada is also scrapped
Glad they scrapped that disgrace. The damn thing should never had left the recycled paper it was first drawn on anyways. Sorry, I have issues with Lambo's current lack of imagination. This neo-retro garbage is a disgrace to the company that brought out a V12 SUV, the Countach, the original Miura ... and so much more. Good riddance.
"we're not in the GT business any more. We are a super sports car business." Miura not a super sport car !!!!! I must live a nightmare !!!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not so,there are to many cars out there with V10 and over 500hp. According to your logic,M5,M6,most AMGs and some new Audis would qualify for Supercar status.
That's not a very well-thought out statement from Lamborghini. The Miura pretty much started the "Super Sports Car" era. There certainly weren't too many (SSC's) around, so you cannot even really classify this car as a "GT" car. It was one of the top 2 or 3 cars around, certainly not a tame little GT.
