    Check this out.

Just viewed this today for the first time. By the way, that Miura Spyder is LOUD from the driver's seat. Probably because without the roof you get the full aural effect of the famous Miura shreik :)

Great site on a great car Joe. I remember this "barn find" was auctionned off sometime in the last year or so. What did Mr. Gordon pay for this one off Miura?

I also see the resto is in good hands... :)

He paid almost $1.2m and he views it as a bargain. Actually it wasnt auctioned off this past year - I put buyer and seller together privately. The car was in France so we flew Gary B out to inspect it, and the rest as they say is history.

I was interested to read kidston's remarkes in SCM about the SV that sold at the Gooding auction for $869,000. The car was unrestored but appeared in decent shape. Kidston compared the car to values of an SVJ which he said recently sold privately for over 2M, but didn't mention this price of 869K relative to the Russo and Steal car which sold for $950,000 (a bobileff perfectly restored car). I did find it strange that he thought 869K was "slightly over market," considering the 950K paid for the SV at Russo the same weekend, and the 2M for the SVJ, and his conclusions that there are more buyers than sellers. (he didn't address or distinquish this but a perfect miura restoration costs $200K now, and the $950K Russo and Steal car was just done) Maybe he ment the price was strong due the less than perfect condition of 4882? I was left a tad confused as to his market analysis.

Be that as it may, is there any rain dance we can do to crash the Miura market?? If you have one for investment, I'm sorry to do this dance, but I'd like to add a green one to my collection, and all of this attention is makeing me mork much harder to accomplish!

I agree, it IS loud. I saw a video of the car driving out of one of the Concorsos (socalspeedzone did the video), and it drove by the camera and was very loud for a Miura. Especially when the driver apparently downshifted at too high RPM.

Time flies. I do remember you being involved in the sale. Congrats. Was that not the infamous first Lambo to hit $1 Million?

John is now talking about a $2 million car! Any pics of said car? This is crazy :)

    John,

May I say that you are not alone in your confusion where the aforementioned's interesting reports are concerned.

I should preface any comments I make in this response by stating that the last time I checked my records, I could only come up with one person who has been directly involved in the marketing of 21 Miuras sold in the past one year. Therefore I wish to humbly suggest that I am somewhat familiar with the Miura market. Based on the preceeding, Id like to also suggest that the price acheived for 4882 was market. Not "slightly over market" as claimed by the reporter, not slightly under market, but just market.

And here is why. The car was offered in the public domain to knowlegable buyers at a specialist venue. At the same weekend another SV (albeit in better condition) brought approximately $100k more (even though the latter deal was never consummated). So in conclusion, 4882's $869k price was as they say in the trade: "right on the money".

As for Kidston's claims as to a $2m+ SVJ, I will leave it to him to state publicly what and when. Until then, and until its verified, its just a claim. The last SVJ I sold brought a well-documented $1.5 million - Miura SVJ 4892, which I sold this past July 2007.

Adam Gordon Quote from the site: "But it is less important that it is my car than that it is the Miura Roadster."

This is contrary to the impression that I got after visiting the site. Hmm.

Anyways, I'm delighted that ZN-75 is gone forever.

Some of the confusion may also lie in the difference between prices achieved for sellers, and purchase prices for buyers. For example, over the past 6 months I've been told of 3 Miura SVs for sale at over $1,000,000, but that price includes $50,000 to this guy, $25,000 to this other guy, and some more money to this guy over here, etc, etc. So the car is really cheaper, but by the time it gets to me, there's as much as a 15% royalty.

Even a 5% royalty on $1,000,000 is a $50,000 spread, so 5-15% is a $50,000 to $150,000 price difference, for the same car.

BTW, I don't have any problems with that system - I've used it myself to find many great cars, and it's the only thing which I've found to work effectively and quickly. I'm just using it to illustrate a reason for potential market confusion.

to the man on the street the only figure that means anything is the one paid by the buyer - eg what it actually cost to buy

a fixed fee once the price goes over a certain amount might be a better bet (for everyone bar the broker)
i mean its not like they really have to work harder to sell a £1M Miura SV than a $500k Miura S yet they would get twice the money for doing so

Sorry Tom I have to stop you there: NO Miura SV has sold over $1m. Look, I own a Miura SV as do you, and Id love to report same, but its just not true. Lets see a bank transfer slip or a check posted and Ill be happy be proven wrong. I know of almost all Miura SV deals that happen in the USA (yes, even those Im not involved with as potential buyers will usually talk to me somewhere along the line...), so before we get accused of "hyping" Miura prices, lets revert to accuracy for the top 2007 Miura numbers:

Miura SVJ 4892 - $1,500,000 actual sales price NOT including commission.
Miura Spyder - $1,150,000 actual sales price NOT including comission
Miura SV 5096 - $962,000 auction sales price - deal NOT consummated*
Miura SV 4882 - $869,000 auction sales price*
    Miura SV 4926 - $825,000

    * I was not involved in these auction trasactions.

Now if anybody has anything SPECIFIC of what car (chassis numbers please) and when to add to the above, please do tell...

Considering the owner's standing in New York City Real Estate and society, I though he was quite reserved... but thats just me.

    agreed.
just about the only thing i picked up on him was he is in real estate and seems to be really enthusiastic about the Miura :)

just looked at the site again, and about the only thing you could argue is that the "about the owner" hyperlink maybe should be further down the list - but thats maybe me just being picky and trying to find a fault after the comment by xs10shl
