Im aware of only three Miuras that made it to the Iranian Royal family:

The white Miura S that went to Princess Ashraf (the Shah's sister).

The dark blue Miura SV that went to the Shah.

The maroon Jota-modified Miura SV that went to the Shah.

There were likely a few other Miuras that made it to Iran but perhaps just one or two others...

    Raymond,

Registries only show a fraction of the cars as many owners are private and dont care about clubs or events and thus remain unknown.

My prototype USA Miura SV was owned by a man in a little town in Mississippi and nobody saw the car for 33 years until the day I bought it...

Joe would seem to be in the best position to know & if he says 90% I am sure he is saying so for good reason.

Are far more cars known than the various registries suggest?

For the numbers to stack up as suggested by the 90%ers (if I can call you that) there must 200 or so cars in garages, barns & storage around the world - and these cars haven't moved or been openly traded for decades.

So if Papa's papa came from the old country and you haven't been for a good look around his old chicken coop lately - now might be as good a time as any.

Oh yeah! The registries are hopelessly behind, but Glen does the best he can, and there are still 3,000 Lamborghinis he hasnt loaded up on the registry. Anybody want to pay him a full-time salary? If so, he has 6 months of work easy! Its a labor of love...

Here is an excerpt of the car's early history as I have been able to put it together to date. I have all of the ownership history after Ramlose. The complete history is posted in Glen's registry if interested. Any help to close this early missing part would be GREATLY appreciated.

1967 to 1969 – Dr. Alfred Hopf – Basel, Switzerland
Imported by Foitek AG in Switzerland and confirmed by Peter Foitek to have been delivered on April 27, 1967 to dealer Peter Monteverdi (builder of the Monteverdi Cars) for Dr. Alfred Hopf (Binningen area). Dr. Hopf resides today (circa late 2004) in Basel. Dr. Hopf was an accomplished "gentleman" racer, and owned and raced various important Ferraris in the late 1950's (including a 250 GT Tour de France, a 250 Testarossa and others). Dr. Hopf was also a business associate of Monteverdi with respect to the construction of the Monteverdi cars. Dr. Hopf indicates that he drove the car every day during his ownership throughout Europe in his capacity as Racing Director for the Automobile Club Suisse (at the time racing was banned in Switzerland as a result of the 1955 Mercedes Le Mans accident). Dr. Hopf recalls the only negative points about the car being that the gearbox had a tendency to heat up when the car was driven hard and shifting was then very hard. The car was never in an accident nor raced during his ownership. In 1969 Dr. Hopf returned the car to Monteverdi as trade in for a Ferrari Berlinetta because: “At the time I was not very enthusiastic about the performance of my Miura.” (!!)

1969 to 1978 (approx.) – Ownership Unknown – In Southern California?
History unknown. It appears the car was imported to California from Switzerland in 1969 or 1970. The car was licensed with California and was registered with black license plate ZMW 977. 1970 was the last year black plates were issued in California.

1978 (approx.) to 1988 – Robert Ramlose – Downey, California
Owned by Robert Ramlose of Downey, California. Mr. Ramlose passed away in 1998. Mr. Ramlose owned a Ferrari 250GT GT California Spider LWB (1057GT), a Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing and various other vehicles. Car was painted white with black interior when purchased by Ramlose. Car was never in an accident during Ramlose ownership.

Thanks Joe. You previously provided this to me. As we discussed at the time, Foitek has the car shown as delivered to him on the 27th. Perhaps the 28th was when Lamborghini got payment or confirmation of delivery. Who knows. Close enough for Italian documentation I suppose. Either way, a great resource. Any chance you can copy the page where this comes from for me? It would be very cool to have. I'd also kill to have copy of that picture you mentioned of the preproduction cars at Bertone.

Almost no chance to find out without the swiss papers, history is too old, Peter Monteverdi died and there is nobody who can remember the history almost 40 years back.
I doubt that their is any archive at Monteverdi we could consider, but Alberto it's worth a try to write to Monteverdi club which is running the museum nowadays.

Te pic I promised is still there and the only reason I havent passed it on to you is because it is with the production guy for the book, but rest assured a copy is yours... as well as the section of the production register that confirms its build & delivery status.

Now feel free to dye that interior black again :)

Great, appreciate it. I will change the interior when I paint the exterior. Just waiting for those 6 lottery numbers to flange up with the ones on my ticket. Countach LP400, Mercedes 300SL, 275 GTB are also waiting for those damn lottery numbers too. You have any cristal balls that work? Mine's at the shop since it never predicts them correctly.

    Raymond:

I wrote a letter to Monteverdi's associate Peter Berger a few years ago. He responded that he had no information. Is he the one in charge of the Monteverdi Club or is there another person I can contact?

I asked Dr. Hopf about the car and he indicated he had no period pictures of the car or any papers, so I am at a dead end there. I've also looked at ALL of the posted Estes papers (from Fred P's site) hoping that there might have been a lead there, but nothing. I have also corresponded with the son of Ramlose to see if they had anything to indicate who owned the car before them, but no luck.

The trail runs cold for me with regards to when, where, how the car ended up in the US and who did it. Any helps would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.
    Alberto

Alberto, Mr. Berger lives in Marocco, the club is running the museum, the problem is that the sale is almost 40 years ago, so I doubt that they kept the papers, seems to be really dead end...
