Good old Craig Davis' car wasnt delivered there and last I know it was at his Pebble Beach house. Also Ferdosian's Miura SV wasnt really delivered to Switzerland. He collected it at the factory and drove it out of the gates on "EE" plates (EE.60213), destination unknown - he kept the car variously in France, in Holland, and in Switzerland.
Thanks guys. The paint on my car can use a hand, but it's not anything I am going to do any time soon. There are other cars I want and need the money for (so many cars, so little money). Thanks for the pictures too. Joe, is that the picture you've told me about? I do not believe 1021 is in the pictures. The first two are apparently the correct orange red shade, but the interiors seem to be tan, not black (?). Great picture though. I do not notice any others on the line in the proper exterior shade. Too bad, I had high hopes to find it on the line. Alberto
Raymond: Thanks for the information. Pretty interesting. I wonder if Swiss has the highest Miura's delivered per capita? Seems like a LOT of cars for a relatively small population base. Did Switzerland have special income tax treatment at the time like Monaco today? Alberto

As I have learned to say nowadays: "Im sure the owner is quite proud" Actually, I dont have any problem with the car itself, although I would not do this to a Miura, personally, but to each his/her own so its purely a matter of taste (or lack thereof). . Where I have a real problem is the BS now permanently associated with this car because its French connections have tried in the last few years to convince the general public that its customization was somehow factory-sanctioned. Nothing could be further from the truth. If only it would be called what it is (a privately modified P400S), we could all be happy. By the way I have driven this car and I can tell you that you don't want to "chop" the roof off a Miura. At least not without some serious chassis stiffening which the perpetrators of this case of automotive vandalism forgot in their haste to perform! It had the directional stability of an out-of-control rickshaw when I drove it, and I could not wait for the drive to end (imagine that in a Miura!). Maybe the chassis has been stiffened since in one of the last few refurbishments it has had. Anyhow, its something different...
Miura #3072 for Jackel-Bumprey, directly picked up in the factory and driven home to switzerland. http://cgi.ebay.de/LAMBORGHINI-MIURA-Test-Daten-Bilder-Technik-1967_W0QQitemZ270251398688QQihZ017QQcategoryZ89345QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I bought a copy of that magazine some time ago, hoping it would be 1021 (given the date of the magazine, German, it could have been), but it was not. Thanks for posting which one it is. Alberto
Ben Heiderich died some days ago in a plane crash. He had a huge collection of exotic cars, including his Miura SV. Antonio
NO! Antonio, I had such a wonderful series of discussions with this Spanish-based Lamborghini concessionaire of the 1970s (he had personally owned my former SV 5038). Ben told me how he drove the silver car home in October 1971 straight from Sant Agata to Madrid - what a wild drive that must have been for the Ex-Porsche racing driver!! I think he saw 175mph crossing France For those who dont know the Spanish concessionaire went under the name of "Orulla". Too bad, he will be missed. I think the family will keep the car... There is a discussion on another thread about "the old guys" from the factory and I agree with Roy that they are an invaluable resource. One such guy is Ingegnere Claudio Zampolli whom I use to keep the Miura running sweetly as he is very close to me. He was on the production line for Miuras from 1967 to 1973 - the entire Miura production! He was also directly involved in the upgrading of the car to its final SV guise. I dont know about numbers and specs because as Claudio tells it in Italy performance numbers come with a "nod-and-a-wink". However when it comes to sheer tuning skill this man is up there with the best (have you seen that Cizeta V16 engine he created??!! Wow). Anway in the top frame he is tuning away on those 40IDL triple-choke Webers... In the bottom frame I can see that he has them synchronized! My Miura P400 (#3342) was awarded the "Most Exciting Design" trophy by the Academy of Art University in San Francisco at this past Sunday's Palo Alto Concours d'Elegance. Chalk up another one for Lamborghini and Bertone! There was quite a diverse field so it was gratifying to see the Miura selected. Gil Image Unavailable, Please Login
