From what I have read about Kevlar discs, it takes about a 1000 miles before they can be considered bedded in. That may take awhile, anyway I will give you an update when I get some more time on it.

Below is a photo of the disc with the Kevlar. In the side shot you can see the layers used to create it. I had a hard time finding a shop that would even talk to me about a Lamborghini disc. After calling locally and a few of the major clutch places around the country I finally went back to the first local shop I tried and visited them in person. After they saw the disc and spent about two hours trying to find some friction material they finally came up with a custom Kevlar material. The shop I used was Arizona Brake and Clutch, I am not sure they would do another disc for the same price I paid since mine was somewhat of an experiment but I think they would be close. I paid a little under $300. They are primarily a truck (semi) place, so they may tell you no over the phone (like they did to me). If you need some help let me know, they are fairly close to where I work.

Since we are discussing clutches, below are some pictures of the other custom tool I made. This tool is used to get the nuts off the crank adapter. Note if you build one, the diameter across the engagement lugs is too big in the manual. This is the second one I made.

Also below is a picture of the inside of the lower flywheel shield. I found it fascinating that this was a completely hand formed piece. Note the weld in the bend and all the hand hammer work to smooth it out.

That’s a bummer about your crank shaft adapter. To be honest with you that was the failure mode I worried most about putting it back together. The Mini guys have some tricks to getting the tapered fit very tight. Hence the reason I built the puller in the first place (I had to stand on the jack handle to get the Mini flywheel off). However their methods can be a little more extreme than I was willing to go.

    Cheers Jim

Very nicely done. Using the truck clutch places seems to be the best bet. This is the second time that I've read about a place like that taking on a wierd kevlar clutch set up. It would still be a decent price at twice the price, but don't tell them. Those clutch covers are pretty rare I hear. I've got one, luckily. BTW, there a LOT of stuff on these cars that are hand formed individually.

Those covers are frequently missing (the one on the car I have in the shop now was literally hanging from one loose 4mm screw). The metalwork on these cars is the most interesting part for me.

Miuras, (even the tricked out SVJs) were not known for their brakes. Okay for a 70's GT car but not up to racing.

Took this the other day, beautiful car.

Joe, out of all the Miuras built as i know there are different model types, I understand this to be the last of its production, some figure over 200 i seem to recall, but did that include the various other model types?

    This car is a P400S.

It is not the last P400S, nor the last anything.

Did someone at the factory say that? Give me their name and I will see to it that they receive a crash course on Miura production details, with pleasure...

762-ish Miuras built in total, give or take one or two for special friends ;-)

148 SVs. The rest are P400 and P400S and nobody can agree exactly how many P400 & P400S so perhaps just split the difference.

Easy now. You know how bent out of shape some can get when the fly in the ointment is pointed out...
