I just worked it out. I think this car was rebuilt from a very badly damaged Miura by Carl Rheinberger in the late 1980's and early 1990's. If I recall correctly the accident happened at high speed after a tyre blew out. Rheinberger was driving and they escaped unharmed but the car was very badly damaged. I saw the car very early in the repair when there wasn't much to see. The owner was Gordon Kennett (sp?)
Thanks. The last shot of the pair of SVs in front of the house impressed the neighbors - even in my snobby neck of the woods! Joe www.JoeSackey.com
...and hopefully you never will again. Even now, Ferruccio must be turning in his grave. If indeed this car is a real Miura (of which I have my doubts), it has all the makings of a back-yard kit car poorly executed. In fact, I can only hope that it is a kit car and that a real Miura has not been morphed into this misguided example of automotive vandalism. LOL. Save your "youre a purist Joe" responses because there are no redeeming features whatsover to be discussed here. This car resembles another that exists in Europe with a "thousand nails" moniker (probably because it was constructed by a carpenter?) and Im sure their owners are quite proud of them, but the fact remains that a beautiful design has been ruined and is being paraded on 4 wheels for all to see. The question that pops up in my mind the most is: WHY? Joe www.JoeSackey.com
I think this must be a sh, eh kitcar, I cant see carbs, and hard to find some original stuff, also the original seats are gone, or perhaps somebody build an kitcar-look from an original, thén I have to say WELL DONE!!! GOOD JOB!! I found another beauty, its on the countach reunion, even worse! LOL
Tonino Lamborghini is getting his dad's old SV (5028) out-and-about these days as evidenced by these images of a recent outing in Renazzo, Italy. Joe www.JoeSackey.com Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I hope no one minds if I use their photos... maybe it's OK if I share? Raphael Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don't mind, still like my version better, and after all I borrowed those pics myself. BTW: I actually do have half the dream to live in everyday, and no, it isn't the Miura.... . Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm assuming you're speaking of the road. Looks too green to be CA, but the road reminds me of Hwy 84 between San Francisco and Hwy 1. Discovered it around midnight, by accident on the way to Laguna, with 5 friends... My minivan never worked so hard ) Will have to drive it with my Miura... when I get one... ETA TBD. Joe, PLEASE stop driving the prices up - I already know the car is priceless! Raphael
Yeah, it's the road, and oh what a road! It's US129 between Robbinsville, NC and Maryville, TN. It's a section of road known as The Tail Of The Dragon and it has 318 curves in 11 miles. I fell in love with the road so much I moved to Maryville, TN from Maine to be close to it. Below I'll include a pic of my current Apex Predator, the VolksDragon. It's only got 40hp but only weighs just 1000 pounds and has the grip of a much larger, more powerful car. This allows me to maintain what momentum I can create through the corners. I surprise the hell out of Porsche, BMW and Corvette guys. I've seen some amazing cars up there. Lots of P-cars, hundreds of Lotus Elises, the odd Ferrari or two, saw a Renault Alpine up there once, one guy driving a brand new Ford GT that regretted bringing it up on the mountain for it's maiden voyage (it's not a road for a novice driver and a wide car), and a couple Gallardos. The Miura would just be incredible on the hill because the way the sound of a car echoes off the mountainside and reverbs though the trees. You can read more about The Tail Of The Dragon at http://www.tailofthedragon.com/ and see great photos of the people, bikes and cars that play there at http://killboy.blogspot.com/ If you're ever in the area be sure to wave... I'm the one rollin' this little wonder... Ok, I'm done hijacking this thread.... quick, someone post some Miura pics! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I dont think theyre going up right at the moment so Im obviously not doing a very good job....sorry about that. Joe www.JoeSackey.com
LOL. Maybe and assembly of primary colors. The yellow one appears to have a red interior, as does the white one. You dont often see red interiors in Miuras. Joe www.JoeSackey.com
