Thanks! That is an alternative that I had been unable to find. Another F Chatter (who wanted to be helpful in answering my question and not argue the merits of octane) sent me info on a station even closer to me that sells 92 octane ethanol free. Regarding the discourse here: Oil and filters/tires/wheels/and now fuel. Seems everyone has a favorite. You should see the heated discussions on the guitar forums about string types, pickguard on or off and the exact type of tubes you should use in your 40 year old amp. It usually comes down to "It's yours, do what you want with your property that makes you feel like you made the right choice." Everyone has opinions and I appreciate that, just don't want to be called a spendthrift because I choose to use premium grade gas in my Ferrari. I thought that was a no-brainer. I asked a simple question and thank all the ones who helped. Alden
I put Josh on my ignore list because I choose not to fight with him. I am here to have fun and interact with other knowledgeable Ferrari owners. I figured something like this was coming. The fact that he can't spell and also classes people by "kind" speaks volumes about why I think I was right in doing this. Someone said something like, "Never fight with (insert appropriate adjective here) people, they will pull you down to their level to win." I also asked the mods to close this thread because the trolls have come out and they need to be put to bed. Alden
After many different experiments I just mix 93 with stabil ethanol treatment in my BBI. seems to work great and will be stable a long time. For long term stroage I also add a little satbil fuel stabiliser. Tried mixing in leaded 113 with 93 frankly 93 with ethanol treatment runs best. BTW most 100 octane unleaded race gas has ethanol. As to the needs of these older 80s motors, depends o the plugs you uses and how lean you want to go. One time I put 89 in my car by mistake I got ping.
we use stabil in some of the cars and certainly the ones with carburetors, and it seems to work pretty well. ethanol at the levels run in the usa is just criminal and is purely a result of the corn lobby. there is no economic or environmental merit to it at all.
I have had pretty good luck with this, there's also an iphone app that shows the stations on your phone. Ethanol-free gas stations in the U.S. and Canada
