After today every team will be no worse than one game out of first place for the pennant. Some of you— enjoy it while you can.
Cubs win, Cardinals lose. I'll take that scenario all season long! Oh . . . congrats to the White Sox as well.
Phillies' bullpen blew it, though I suppose Kapler will be criticized for his decisions. It looks like he's the new "Captain Hook". They would not have been able to do extra innings; a heavy rainstorm hit my house just as the game ended, and I'm about 8 miles north of SunTrust Park, which would have gotten the same weather about 10 minutes later. I saw Stanton hit a dinger for the Yankees in their exhibition game on Monday; I see he's off and running in the regular season as well. With the "short porch" at Yankee Stadium, I think he's almost a cinch to hit 60 if he stays healthy. He and Judge remind me of the Mantle and Maris days.
Commie! Cards & Yanks should be only Teams allowed to play World Series. Rest of League is entertainment for yokels. "I am weak-ish on snatch" ~ joker57676
Nola threw exactly 68 pitches for the Phils...gave up no runs. Bullpen immediately gives up dinger, then three in bottom of 8th to tie and then blow the deal with 3 in walk off 9th. At least this will give Philly sports writers early opportunity to sharpen their knives.
Based on the opening day stats, we should see a record number of home runs this year. With a few exceptions, this will not be a vintage year for pitchers.
Just booked tickets for annual pilgrimage to The Friendly Confines...Phils vs. Cubs first week of June. Hoping Arrieta gets a start while we're there.
Meant to comment the other day, but watched the Yankee game the other day while I was at the gym. It looked miserable! I can't recall ever watching a game where you could see everyone's breath and the game play announcers in the booth were bundled up.
