Its Lou Gehrig -- the Iron Horse -- day!!! https://www.mlb.com/news/lou-gehrig-day-june-2nd-2021-details
Cool. I hate the Yankees with the best of them, but Gehrig's RBI stats are nothing short of mind-boggling. 184 RBI in 1931 and 173 in 1927 & 1930!! That's for a man who is coming to bat a lot of times with empty bases, because he's hitting behind the Sultan of Swat, Babe Ruth. Would love to know what his career BA was with RISP...T
Wow do the Diamondbacks STINK! They lose almost 3 out of 4 games played. Worst team in the league by far. Lost 11 straight and facing the Giants now.
Breaking news: Phils' bullpen preserves 2 run lead. Save recorded by relief pitcher. Circle the date on your calendars.
The Dodgers have clawed their way back. Now only 1/2 game behind the Giants. But I agree the Giants and Padres are good teams this year. Any of them can win the pennant.
11 runs with two outs? Yogi's old saying never fit better: to paraphrase it "An inning ain't over till it's over!"
Jim...their former closer Neris was brought into 9th to "get some work" in a 5-1 game. He gets first two guys out, then puts 6 straight on base...all of them scored
Few teams suck as much as Arizona this year. When the Dodgers played there a few weeks ago Chase Field had the biggest crowds of the year -- and 90% were wearing Dodger Blue.
Image Unavailable, Please Login Top of the 6th. Astros vs Yankees. Joe Smith pitching, to Garry Sanchez. This is not the only blown call. I guess he did not paint the corner ? Pitch called a ball. Thanks ump.
It's a shame what happened to Ronald Acuna, but sometimes that happens when one is giving his all. It will be tough for the Braves to contend, since he was the motor that got them started, but they still have plenty of talent.
Phils reach .500 mark for All Star break despite key players on Covid ban (keeping my comments on their non-vaccinated status to myself).
Dodgers are 21-5 v. Colorado and Arizona. They are 43-39 v the rest of MLB. WoW. This is what they have with all the cash spent, by the GM .
Here's one for the numerologists. Seemingly all season long the Atlanta Braves have been struggling to reach the .500 mark; every time they got to within a game, they would lose and fall back again. Well, they finally won 2 in a row for the first time since the All-Star break to reach .500, but these stats are a bit spooky: their home record is 27-27, their road record is 27-27, their overall mark is thus 54-54.....and they have 54 games left to play! (Maybe it's time to play a lottery ticket with "27" and "54" on it.....)
I'm not lighting any candles. I've said it a million times - God's love may be infinite, but it doesn't include the Mets! ☹️ T
And after struggling to get above .500 all year, the Braves have now tied the Phillies for 1st place, with the Mets only 1 game back.
NL East is a mish mash of mediocrity this year. I can't see anyone other than the division winner making it to the playoffs...T
The Dodgers have screwed up several games this year but if it were in any other division, they would be leading it. I don't think the Dodgers can catch the Giants this year.
