The Dodgers are in complete free fall. They had a losing July and August isn't much better while everyone else in their division has woken up.

    All that money.....

How many pitchers do they have recovering from TJ surgery?
    It's 6 or 7.

Kershaw is the Dak Prescott of baseball: aside from the World Series 4 years ago
I don't think he's made it to the playoffs...
If the team could just keep some semblance of health, they'd be OK.

Kershaw returned and looked great today against St Louis. The D backs and Padres have both been hot.

We'll see once the playoffs get here.
I HOPE he does well, he's about the only pitcher in MLB I even know anymore...

And on a different topic, why on earth do the radio pundits start talking about how far
a team is back for a wild card birth - IN JULY?

The mediocrity in baseball right now is pointed out by the fact that no one is playing .600 baseball, meaning that even the best teams have lost at least 40% of their games. On the other hand, only 3 teams are playing below .400, and two of those (the Marlins and the Rockies) are within reach of that mark. Then, there are the decrepit White Sox, who are on pace to outdo the '62 Mets as the worst team of the last 100 years.

Frankly, I'm having a lot more fun right now watching the Little League World Series.

San Diego has been on fire. The only team really kicking ass now.

    Agree on the LL!

Ohtani looks to be worth every cent the Dodgers paid for him. This guy is pretty amazing.

I am not the biggest baseball fan - aside from being a press photog for the College World Series from 1980 thru 1991.

BUT what I miss about MLB is when they would annouce in advance who the starting pitchers were, and we
knew who almost all of them were, and we would plan on watching a game or parts of it based on that.

TODAY, we have no idea who pitchers are, because almost none of them last past the 5th or 6th inning,
so the decent ones cannot get 'a following'.

Yeah, I know I'm old(er), but we knew to watch when Nolan was pitching, or Clemens, or Smoltz, or Glavine,
or Maddux, or Palmer, or Valenzuela, Hershizer, and I could go on and on.
All I know today is Kershaw... because nobody else lasts, nobody else is getting a chance to dominate...
    IMO

OMG the Dodger's Ohtani steals a base and then hits a grand slam in the bottom of the 9th to win the game -- and becomes 40/40 TWENTY ONE games faster than any other player in history.

WHO would pitch to him in this situation?
Well, they had no choice - bases loaded, to walk him would lose them the game, so either way...
About all they could do is pray he hits a line-drive to the SS and everyone on base stays.
Not sure how many outs there were when he hit the slam, they were screwed every which way...

Bases loaded & tie score in the bottom of the 9th. They had no choice but to pitch to him or just walk in the winning run.

    The perfect storm.

That's what I said - the ONLY prayer they had was for each batter they faced to line-out to the Shortstop.
To line out to any other position - the runner on third would most likely have scored.

    Uhhh, ahem....

    Kershaw out, AGAIN....

I'd like to add an 'LOL', but it's not that funny...

It's sad when it is not surprising, and almost expected.

Phils take 3 of 4 from ATL. I don't see anybody getting past the D-Backs right now

Does anyone here think Ohtani should pitch this season? I don't.
Not sure if he should pitch next season, either.

Suddenly the Yankees are 3 games in front of the Orioles. Maybe they have the upper hand the rest of the season.
