I think he won't do anything other than hit the rest of the season, maybe as long as he's a Dodger. Too valuable even if he does nothing. Look at the crowds he draws. MLB must love this guy.

I went by the old Tropicana hotel yesterday where the new stadium for the Las Vegas A's will be built. Here's what it looks like today. Going to be blown up in Oct.

First promotion for A's tickets have started. Buy a season ticket for the Aviators and get 1st pick for the A's.

Did they ever come up with an official design of the new stadium?

The last one was a joke - there were NO 'luxury sky boxes' in the design.

What they showed was a concept of the general look and feel. They are working on the final drawings now. Support to submit them to the County later this year for approval. Construction starts next Spring in May/ April.

It will be a small stadium, I cannot even imagine what ticket prices will be,
even when it is 105 out... I know it's not a dome, so no A/C.

30K seated plus 3k standing room. Honestly, that's pretty close to the average attendance at an MLB game of 29K. I think most would like to be closer to the players like older ballparks.

The ballpark in Phoenix is too big. Most of the time it looks empty even with 20-30K in the building.

It is enclosed. Each seat will have its own AC. Most likely not natural grass though but we haven't been told. The roof is semi-transparent from what we have been told. The roof is not retractable.

I cannot see how the inside can be white. No background for the ball. So they may use LED lights to change the background color. Some of these details are still unknown.

The total Trop site is 29 acres. With the resort built into the stadium complex its going to be plenty big for visitors.

Interesting, I was told to make it a dome would be too expensive.
Maybe they will just play ALL games at night, where the 'white' won't be as stark???
What are the plans for parking? (LOL)

I was just comparing it to the Football stadium, and the prices there... but then again, the NFL is king, MLB, not so much.
NHL seems to be doing OK there, nascar seems to be dying - everywhere, though.

I know a LOT of businesses do NOT want to see an NBA team there, when the NBA All-Star
game was there quite a few businesses reported the 'dine and dash' crimes were up over 1,000%,
seems the crowd that showed up was rather thug-ish.

I heard a stat today about the Dodgers that seems impossible.

The top 31 hardest hit balls this year all belong to Ohtani.

It seems as far as MLB is concerned, there are only 2 players in MLB, Ohtani and Judge.
Ohtani is a shoe-in for MVP, which will make all the fans in Asia happy, and probably here too.
'Stolen bases' will need an '*' by it, with the pitching rule change, I am SHOCKED more people are not stealing.

He had today one of the greatest games in the history of the sport, shattered a single season record, and helped clinch a playoff berth. If that isn't MVP, I don't know what is.

I don't know if we will ever see another player break 50-50.

I am sure we will see 50-50 again, within 3-4 years.
Would I bet my house on it? No.
Someone will be on their way to it, then get injured...
Ohtani will probably do it again...

I don't think so. I don't think anyone who hits for power would get that many singles to be able to steal, then steal. Ohtani is the lead off hitter. Normally lead off hitters do not hit for power. It took over 100 years for someone to go 50-50. It may take another 100.

If Ohtani starts to pitch next year again for sure he will not do it. They will rest him more.

But the rules have changed, and look at pitching today - it sucks.
The bases are a teeny bit bigger, I don't think that has made the big difference,
but the pitch clock has, and you have a limit on how many times you can try a
pickoff at first base, I'm actually surprised more guys have not stolen more bases...

Does every team even have an 'ace'? I don't think so.
It was not long ago when almost nobody threw a 100mph ball, now today
it seems everyone does - AND ends up with Frank Jobe Surgery...
Could Smoltz, Glavine, Maddux pitch today? I mean win like they did 30 yrs ago.

I am not so sure Ohtani will pitch again, maybe, but he's more valuable to MLB in the
lineup than he is on the DL again, when you see his popularity in Japan/Asia.
Dan Patrick said today that 80% of the tourists coming here from Japan go to a Dodger game...
Speaking of which, do the Angels still exist? (LOL)

Maddux would do great as long as the umps continued his history with a four foot wide plate and a five foot high strike zone

What I find hilarious is John Fisher won't put ANY money into the actual team
while in Oakland - and people think he will once they get to Las Vegas - IF they get to Las Vegas.

I still pray to God the citizens continue to vote down public stadium funding, just as they did in KC for the Chiefs...
I don't think ANY public funds should be used to build a stadium or fund a team.
Now, give them tax breaks for X years? I think that's OK, but you have to write a
bill stating they will give you a tax break for, say 10 years, but it will also be stipulated
they cannot move the team for 10 years AFTER that expires.

Slightly off-topic, we had a company here, ConAgra, which the State gave tax breaks
to for 30 years if they would stay here in 1983~, which they agreed to.
On year 31, they moved to Illinois...

The Braves may have just gotten hot enough at season's end to squeeze in. I'd like to see them slam the door on the Mets!

I'm shocked the Orioles lost 2 straight to KC. That's baseball!

The Padres are without question the toughest team to beat right now. If the Dodgers can get past them they could win it all.

Anybody listen to Dan Patrick this AM? (Thursday 10/3)

    He nailed it.

He said almost all of baseball is being 'managed' by analytics.
If the analytics say to pull a guy after 5 innings, they pull him, no matter how great he is doing.
That's why we keep seeing and hearing about guys being pulled off the mound for seemingly no reason...
If the analytics say to start one guy in RF over another guy that is hitting hot, they start the newbie.

'Managers' are not allowed to 'manage' anymore.
'Analytics' decide when a guy steals second, lays down a bunt, gets replaced in late innings, ALL of it.
Very few Managers are allowed to manage the 'old school' way - which was 20+ years ago...
