You ever see the people sitting in the seats behind home plate and wonder how they could afford those seats??? Or a guy with 2-3 kids there? OR the people spending most of the game staring at their smart phone...
Mets pitchers thought they were playing Phillies, where balls in the dirt, a foot above the strike zone and two feet outside result in hopeless, flailing swings from clueless batsmen.
Manaea is brutal on lefties. Severino is going to be perfect for O, I’m just hoping the Mets can limit the damage.
Perhaps I was not clear enough for you in making my point. In the 1960 7 game world series, The Yanks outscored Pittsburgh 93-57. The Yanks had 91 hits and batted .338 (!). Pirates had 60 hits and hit .256 as a team for the series. Anyone taking a look at that would conclude the Yanks in a landslide, but nope. One of the greatest game 7s in WS history.
No - you were perfectly clear - I knew exactly what you meant. MY point was stats don't matter. What if one team scores 39 runs, and the other team scores 11 runs? One team wins the Series 4 games to 3. Game scores were: 2-1 1-10 2-1 1-13 2-1 1-12 2-1 Impossible? Yeah, probably, but I'm just saying stats don't matter. How does Clayton Kershaw do in the playoffs as opposed to the regular season? What is Ohtani hitting in the playoffs so far with the bases empty? Every year we see 'crappy' teams go on NICE winning streaks, and we see 'great' teams go on bad losing streaks - my point being you need to get hot at the right time. A couple months ago KC was either leading the division or was 1/2 game out of first place - and then proceeded to lose something like 8 out of 9, something like that. Yeah, I know, I'm crazy, but honestly - no matter the sport - you go on crazy streaks at the wierdest times, we both know that.
Someone on TV today said today its been a great post season for baseball and I would agree. What the Mets have done is incredible. I didn't think the Dodgers could come back against San Diego to win the last 2. Some of the games have really been showcases of talent. Last night's Guardians game demonstrates exactly what Baseball is all about -- it ain't over til its over.
Except that for the Mets…it’s over. Thankfully, I have my beloved NY Liberty still in the game, and on the brink, in fact.
Probably true but NO ONE thought the Mets would make the post season, let alone being a few games away from the World Series. And if you look at the Padres from the last part of the season they were incredible. The Dodgers reached down deep to beat them.
Biggest surprise in playoffs is Stanton. Never saw him being so dominant. Big poppie level right now.
Could these games in Clev been most exciting 3 in row ever? Back and forth homer after homer extra innings. Wow.
Yeah, he's all-but disappeared the last few years, people grumbling about his huge contract, glad to see him snap out of it.
Yah BABY!!!!! What a season. Those Mets were amazing but the Padres were the toughest team to beat this year to get to the WS. Image Unavailable, Please Login
That game was crazy. The weird part was Ohtani's last fly ball out ended up setting up the victory. That rather unusual play got the 2 base runners to 2nd and 3rd which convinced the Yankees to walk Mookie to first and get to Freeman, who has had a bad ankle. I don't think they would have walked Mookie if 3rd was open and 2 outs.
My Dodger and over 8.5 parley bet was going in the trash. ! Loved the win, but the heart attack and rehab will cost more
Boone should be fired after that game. Why bring in Cortes, a guy who hadn't pitched for over a month until last night.
Very strange game. Yamamoto very strong, bullpen weak. Usually its the opposite. Ohtani.........? All of LA holds its breath.
Not really. Bullpen pitched 2 2/3 innings and gave up 1 run, and more importantly held the lead and got the win for Yamamoto. What more can you ask for? Actually both team's bullpen were outstanding last night.
