Looks like the Rangers and Josh Hamilton are $3.3M apart in negotiations for the 2011 season. And Texas is offering $8.7M. Josh want $12M...... I like Josh but where do we draw the line on greed???

I know, I know.....Free enterprise. The cap is in place and whatever a player can negotiate for, more power to him.........

Who's being greedy? You'd think The Rangers would just reward the guy who basically put them back on the map? Hamilton outperformed guys making 4X what he made. He's also a guy with a questionable past who might react negatively to the whole arbitration process.

Might be a lot of dough for playing a game but this guy sells beer and hot dogs.

With today's MLB contracts, 12M for his production, is nothing but a bargain.

If they are smart, they will try and lock him up, for a multi-year deal.

This is what I say about every sport: if the players don't make it, the owners keep it.

I realize Texas is a small market, but as was said, others on that team make more for producing less.
I also think 'locking players up long-term' is really stupid, the percentage of guys continuing to produce 'long-term' is simply not very good. Within a year or two, he stops performing (at a high level), and the team cannot unload him because nobody will pick up his salary, so they are stuck together.
