Anyone here follow MLS? I would like to pick your brain.
I follow it - Not religiously, but I like to think I have a vague idea of what's going on..... "My" San Jose Earthquakes have recently broken ground on a new stadium, which I'm looking forward to. Whatcha wanna know? Cheers, Ian
oh ok... well i recently just started watching soccer again. i like the uefa cls and now the mls. to my amazement, i see that we have several big name players here like theirry henry and rafael marquez. so has mls gotten more creds now internationlly or still the same. and i see the roster for ny having several players in the millions. i guess a by product of being owned by red bull gmbh. direct tv has a dedicated channel to soccer/football so why is the base salary so low compared to others? also i saw am interview with ronaldo where the interviewer asked would he play in the mls and he said that could be possible later down the line. I see henry is getting around 5 mil tghis year, what was his base salary while in europe? sorry guys i am typing with one hand....my left is in a cast.
The majority of the planet enjoys the UEFA CL. You've picked the "best of the best" right there..... The MLS is, IMHO, roughly at German Bundesliga level.... It's got serious "creds", but it ain't the English Premier league either..... Having said that, an MLS team (Real Salt Lake?) is in good shape in the CONCACAF (UEFA CL for the America's) tournament - IIRC, it'll be the first time an MLS club (is likely to) make it to the "World Club Championship"...... Which isn't as "significant" as UEFA CL, but gets guys "noticed" - The best then show up in Europe Sorry 'bout the hand IIRC, Henry was making ~$20-25MM per at the height of his powers. (?) Many "old" Euro (and S. American/Mexican) superstars have relocated to the MLS - It's a slower, simpler, kind of game..... Cheers, Ian
