    Jack Nicholson response:

OK. Put a nice 12 oz filet in the middle of the slices. Add some A-1 sauce. Then leave out the bread and cheese.

I made a couple for the first time in 20 years just last week (If you use Velvita, they will last about that long!). They were yummie! One was with American cheese with plain butter. The second was with garlic butter, Swiss cheese and salami....This was the best!

As a master chef myself --if I may be so modest as to say so myself- I believe good food is all about presentation. Even you amateur chefs may agree :) In order to make a proper presentation you need an artful setting and slight symmetry...

My grilled cheese sandwhiches are known worldwide. Bring your Ferrari to my house and I will make one for you :)

Our distinguished colleague, darth550 is correct. I submit:
Pic of Cheesehenge was taken a moment before breathlessly posting.
Note that jordan's post is at exactly 6:00 pm.
Note the trailing edge of the "hour" shadow is at the exact point of 6:00 on the Cheesedial.

    LMAO...!

Wax, you're just as touched as Dave...!

    Jordan, you too...!!!

i, for one, am a grilled cheese aficionado... Jordan, you've put yourself in a very precarious position, my friend; now you'll be forced to cook me some of your world renowned grilled cheese when i come back out to California... If ANYone feels that they have what it takes to produce a masterful grilled cheese sandwich, i'd be more than happy to officiate that (or deny it, if it sucks:D) at your request...

Gus' girlfriend, Josie, makes a mean grilled cheese... Bruce's wife, Andrea also makes a kick-ass grilled cheese... i used to have a method to the madness, but i'm not sure i should cheapen it and share it here... Maybe i'll mail out personal brochures... :)

PS. in high school i held (and still hold, apparently) the record for number of grilled cheese sandwiches eaten in one sitting: 18.

    :)

Ok, thanks a lot - its late, and now I'm hungry!

Usually I'll make two of three with fresh garden tomato slices, mmmmm

Or, if its I'm in the mood - one slice has Marmite on it. Heaven.

    Cheers,
    Jon

ps. The best cheese is Kraft Singles (from Costco) AKA 'plastic cheese', melts evenly without any grease. Agreed?

That instrument that Jordan made his on is the best thing to use (not sure what it is called). I can't seem to get the pan ones just right. I also like the sandwich maker method myself, even though it is a bit cheap. Sort of locks in the gooey cheesiness, but it is good in a pinch and better (for me) than using a pan.
