Who is behind this one? Any more info about what will be there? Specifically interested in race cars like above and vintage. That's a major PITA to drive there. Want to make sure it isn't the usual suspects before I devote a whole day to attending.
I think it’s because Sotheby’s lost their relation with Amelia when Hagerty took over and are looking to give them some direct competition now. It’s tough to decide between the two without more info. I’m hoping Moda is good and has some art vendor options since it’s closer for me than Amelia.
Retaliation, Hagerty bought Amelia and also owns Broad Arrow. Broad Arrow replaced RM Sotheby’s as the premier auction at Amelia. So, RM created Moda and scheduled it in direct competition with Amelia. Personally I don’t care much for the extravaganza format that Moda seems to be. I prefer a more low key experience like Amelia. That’s why I stopped going to Monterey years ago. It really is possible to have too much of a good thing.
The format doesn't matter to me as long as the cars on hand are exceptional. I guess I won't know till it's over how the field will be but I'm getting the feeling it lean heavily towards more modern exotics.
The lineup of cars they’re presenting is undeniably impressive. I’m not going to either event but if I had to choose it’d be Amelia.

Would love to see more photos, the Bitlmore is a gorgeous property with a lot of charm, even more than the Breakers. I shot a 360 Modena there at dawn for my test drive article in Prancing Horse in December 1999. Right after that it was on to Homestead with then FNA press officer Carlo Fiorani for some road course laps Image Unavailable, Please Login
juicy, love the fierce competition! even at those highest levels our hobby is so small and everyone is less than 1 degree of separation. I know personally almost every name mentioned on both sides. FerrariChat itself was under Rob Kauffman in 2018, who then did the SPAC and IPO for Hagerty, when I said hi to Rob at Pebble he was talking to McKeel. I don't know Myers personally, but RM Sotheby's has been a great customer, Curated a great customer, and RM Sotheby's involved with our duPont Registry Group Sotheby's Motorsport. will love to see how this shakes out in the next few years, my prediction there won't be much noticeable from either. Amelia will continue as is, ModaMiami will be an ongoing success, from our spectator viewpoint we won't know if these companies make or lose a million here or there.
There is no reason why the two can't coexist. Lord knows we have plenty of events here that do. There were six alone just in the month of February. Honestly it feels like there is one every weekend. IMO eventually they will each draw their own type of crowd. From what I saw about Moda and heard from friends who attended I think it's different enough from Amelia that there will be room for both. I just wish there was an event that was more track focused like in the past. Seeing cars static on the lawn gets old quick. Especially when I know they are garage queens who just get trailered from event to event and never really driven.

Not sure of their Instagram, not a hugely flattering image gallery. Most placements in parking lot or did they just use photos from staging? No real wide shots of the overall field. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for the links, much appreciated and of course I had noticed that there were lots of videos already online. Your two photos in post #19 were however taken thousands of Miles away from Coral Gables;-)
