On October 30th, the Modball Rally (formerly known as Gumball rally) will use Chicago as one of its starting points for the East Coast rally. I'm looking forward to this. Last time they were in town, it was a tremendous collection of the best exotics and the craziest people.
Hmmm, I've just looked at the site. (http://www.modball.com/rally/usa/) It seems it's mostly tuners, no exotics like in the Gumball rally. All of the pictures on their site show tuners except for 1 Bentley. The gumball site is still up. http://www.gumball3000.com/ Pix from past years: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Modball isn't the Gumball. The Gumball was just recently ran this month, started in LA and ended in Miami.
Dan, the Bullrun in 2006 made a stop in Chicago (actually stopped at LFSC) http://bullrun2006.blogspot.com/2006/07/bullrun-2006-day-3-lake-forest-sports.html
Damn! Later that year is when I became interested in automotive photography. Too bad. So if Modball isn't Gumball, what is it?
Yeah, they stayed at the Peninsula downtown. I was there for the send-off. Some really hot cars including the infamous Roland Linder F40LM (replica).
Yeah, I was down there when they came in the afternoon before. I remember we could hear Roland roaring around from blocks away. I just love the way exotics echo downtown.
Road and Track, May issue: An article about Worldclassdriving's extreme weekend where they teach people on how to slingshot around an airfield to get the cars past the 200 mph mark. One of the instructors is Roland Linder.
