I'm keen on purchasing a 99 Modena in the next year and although I will keep the car pure for some time I always like to know what is possible. Are Ferraris easy to mod? Are there safe, reliable mods ie. Intakes, tunes, new exhaust systems that yield high performance gains? Cheers
Mods I did (all reversable for selling purposes): - Fit CS suspension. Makes car feel razor sharp on public roads. - Fit CS wheels and tyres. I found the sticky Pzero Corsa's helped braking, grip, etc. - Fit CS fuel cap. Made me smile seeing the little silver horse flip up at petrol stations. - Fit sports seats. Sparco's or CS's. - Fit sports cats and sports exhaust. Noise and performance both increased. - Fit ECU's. I had one engine one that made acceleration that much sharper and a 2003 Transmission ECU fitted. This latter one made the F1 system much more smoother. After you have tired of the above - sell car and buy a CS. Youwill appreciate the stiffer chassis and CCM brakes so much more by then.
those sound like really nice, clean, classy mods...can you post a pic of the cs fuel cap...I'd really like to do that on my car....
nick, if u r interested in modding a f360, there are sooo many choices to go with. my homie Jim Pan over at P-Factor Automotive Group gave me sound advice modding my f360 (www.p-factor.com). he's the guy to talk to if u have any questions as to what your options may be for your 360.
Hubert-- I checked out P-factor....looks like Ferrari does have plenty of options...thanks. Izza- looks like you really went to town. How much gain in hp did you see from changing out the exhaust? Also I see you're in London...whereabouts? I lived in Chester Square, Belgravia for 6 years...great city.
ECU supplier said 440 hp. I never felt that much difference except on track when on a long straight I would start to edge past other Modenas. To then overtake was easy as braking distances were significantly shorter due to stickier rubber. I would add though the greatest difference was the feel of the gas pedal which was very trigger happy!! I believe that the ECU works by ignoring the CO emissions (set by governments) and going merely for performance optimums. When flooring the gas the first limit you reached was traction control. I am no engineer but if this is the case, then the engine feels unleashed by being on the wrong side of the law (albeit only temporarily). As for petrol cap see http://community.webshots.com/photo/473469632/1474380508069914581FxzPfC BTW - I am based in North London (Muswell Hill).
Instead of wasting time and money modding a regular 360, why not just buy a CS???? It's already done for you, plus more!!! And, you wont have to store all your stock parts, nor will there be all your mod parts left over when you switch all the stock stuff back to sell the car.
Based on UK prices: Modena price £60k Wheels & Tyres £5k Fuel Cap £200 Suspension £6k ECU's £3k Exhaust System £2.5k Seats £0.5k Total £77.2k Cost of CS (RHD) - £100 - £105k. The CS is still much more of a car but my appreciation of it is much better for the route I chose.
Izza, nice mods, well done. So is the black cs your upgrade? Thats the one I want, black with a stripe.
The aftermarket support for the 360 is VERY strong. Many companies and tuners out there offer a wide selection of products. You can even upgrade to CS components if you would rather stick to using Ferrari parts as someone here already mentioned. The best advise I can give you is to not rush anything and to search Ferrarichat as the advise on here is invaluable.
