Hand carved model of St. Mark's Square is listed on E bay. This was built by my grandfather Attilo Savoia in his studio in Rome.
It took nine years to complete. Here I am with a model of St. Peter's that was completed in 1950. This one was built by my father Lucio and grandfather and took five years to build. There were no plans so they took three years to measure and photograph the buiding and two years to construct the model. The lights work as well as the fountians and clock. Both are made of beech and birch wood and are 1-100 scale. It is in the Italian Cultural Center in Chicago.

I am simply speechless. Having been there and seeing it in that scale is just mind blowing. I wish I could afford to buy such a masterpiece, but it belongs in a museum of fine arts, this is truly a work of art. Thanks for the post.

My 2 y/o and 4 y/o would LOVE to play with that! Working lights and fountains! They'd be thrilled. :D ;)

    Just a suggestion...

A 7-figure purchase price may not attract much interest. You might consider donating this to an appropriate museum and taking the tax deduction. I realize it's not as good as having $ in your pocket, but it may be the only way to get some meaningful compensation for it.

    Wonderful work, though.
