Nice idea. I didn't see the discussion on it, but I like it.

I actually don't like the idea.

I think the greater specificity in the model-specific forums will create or enhance fractionalism or "cliquishness" among F-Chat members.

I think the new forums will lessen the extent to which we learn about other models because many of us won't be looking past the forum(s) containing the models of our own cars.

Now, I have to specifically visit the 328/Mondial and TR forums to find out what's cooking regarding those models. Before, I could just see the headlines on one page.

I like the idea, but I believe the forums should be listed in order chronologically (based on the first model in each category):

    Vintage
    206/246
    365/400/412
    Boxers/TR/M
    308/328/Mondial
    348/355
    456/550/575
    360/430
    612/599
    Super Ferraris

Or, by number of cylinders (for the numbered models listed):

    Vintage
    206/246
    308/328/Mondial
    348/355
    360/430
    365/400/412
    Boxers/TR/M
    456/550/575
    612/599
    Super Ferraris

I think either of these schemes is preferable to what you have at present. (I find it odd to see the 308/328 listed after the 612/599!) Maybe another poll is called for?

Yes, a chronological listing does make sense.

Agreed, a chronological listing makes a lot of sense.

Chrono is good, but shouldnt the vintage category be fractioned up as well, or gotten rid of completely?

    Thusly:

    812
    1946-1949
    1950-1954
    1955-1959

Or some such, as it seems the vintage category covers to many models over to long a span. Maybe even broken apart to give the Columbo engined cars a spot versus others, the six cylinders, four cylinders, etc....

Or, the race cars vesus road cars? Okay I'll shut up now, shoulda spoke days before, DOH!!!

I don't like it either. I think it breaks things up a bit too much and requires checking too many different forums.

Oh well, there's no stopping progress I guess...

I like it. I think it's funny that all the 355 owners that bash the 348 now we have been grouped together. LMOL

I don't think there are enough "vintage" cars out there to merit a further split. After all, all the models were built in quite small numbers until the Dino.

Exactly my thought. I used to read all about the different Ferraris of a similar era (308 / 328 / TR / 512 / 348), but now find very little new info in the 348/355 category so I have to jump around a bit more. Plus there is less interaction between users of different models in the model specific categories.
It is worse in my opinion.

Chronological is good, but maybe a little more consolidated. Like join the 400/412/365 with the 456/612 and the 308/328/mondi with the 348/355. Like 20 year lumps.
