A few months back I decided to make a small model collection of all the cars I've had. I would try and get the exact model and exterior color of each one, or at least as close as possible. I'm sure all of you have done something similar at some point! I picked 1:43 as they would fit on a shelf in my office and the selection seemed to be pretty good. I've been able to find quite a few.

Most are pretty common stuff. I've developed an illness around Mercedes R107s in the last few years so have a few in my little model collection. (R107s look good in euro trim even if they are not that fun to drive. Oh.. and are still pretty cheap.)

However, I can't find the true star of my car history: my 308 GTSi QV. (Unfortunately it is history... I sold it in 2010.... I couldn't give it away at the time!) Does anyone know if there was ever a 1:43 308 GTS made in black? I'll 'settle' for a non-QV. It looks like I could get a Hotwheels Elite GTS in 1:18. But was hoping to stay in 1:43. I added an orange 1:18 Mercedes SL as I knew there was no other way to get that car in that color! Its really big! (The vendor threw in a second one in silver for $12 since it was damaged. And I had had a silver one so why not?)

Any suggestions for a black 308?

I've never been a big model guy but have enjoyed the project. Its been interesting to see the quality of the different companies. From toys to real models. I still can't believe I paid $50 for a kid's $4 throw-away thing by Gama. It had to be shipped from Germany. Simply because its the only model of a blue 2-door euro 1984 BMW 323i slick-top with dog-leg 5 speed that is California smog legal! (Soon to be for sale btw!)

My favorite model is either the Minichamps BMW 635 or Fiat 850 Spider. The Fiat is unfortunately a 68 instead of the 67 that I am currently restoring(slowly).

I've still got a few to go. BMW E36 325i and Merc W211 E55. Ans one I think one will be impossible... a 1962 Buick Skylark Convertible. If anyone knows if this was ever made by somebody in any scale, please let me know.

Another hard one will be the first car I ever owned (it was given to me for $10)... a 1973 Ford Maverick 4 door! Why would anyone want a model of that s-box? Besides me anyway.

And any guidance on the 308 would be welcomed!

A thought regarding the Best models - the black model has a red interior. The red and blue versions of this model look like they have black or beige interiors. If your 308 had a beige or black interior perhaps you could purchase a second model and swap out the interiors. This assumes that these models are from the same molds, and that they are screwed together and not glued together. I did this to replicate an e46 BMW that I owned.

Also there might be a 1/43 black 308 made by Kyosho.

Not sure how I missed that Best 308!

I guess I need to wait for one to come up for sale in the US. All those others are in Italy and so the shipping doubles the price.

Now if I could just find my Skylark!
